Specifically, SpotCheck identifies syntax errors and semantic errors
(undefined names, type mismatches, etc.) -- those errors normally returned
by a compiler. This analysis is performed after each edit, giving the
programmer immediate feedback on errors.
SpotCheck provides a host of additional features, including:
* smart links to name declarations
* cross-referenced Java APIs
* editing with popup menus
* interfaces to helper apps to compile & run
* hierarchical project browsing
* color-coded syntax

Leading Developers Launch QuickTime 3 Products
NAB, LAS VEGAS--April 6, 1998--Apple Computer, Inc. today announced that
more than 25 of the biggest names in multimedia and broadcast have
developed products, tools and solutions for QuickTime 3, the latest release
of Apple's award-winning, industry standard software for creating and

"The companies supporting QuickTime 3, many of which are at NAB, are
leaders in digital media and breaking new ground in their respective
markets," said Avie Tevanian, Apple's senior vice president of Software
Engineering. "Also, with QuickTime 3 integrating SMPTE-approved video
effects and transitions, and the QuickTime file format now the starting
point for the ISO's MPEG-4 specification, the industry is standardizing on
this shipping technology--rather than waiting for new, unproven technology
initiatives to come to market."

Subject: Daylight Savings Time & Mac OS Extended Volumes
Projects built with CodeWarrior that are stored on a HFS+ volume will be
rebuilt after Daylight savings time is changed.......
(http://til.info.apple.com/techinfo.nsf/artnum/n24452)
TITLE
Mac OS 8.1: Daylight Savings Time & Mac OS Extended Volumes
TOPIC
I notice that when I check Daylight Saving Time in the Date & Time control
panel, both the creation and modification times of files on a Mac OS
Extended volume change by one hour.If I change the time by hand, the times
do not change. Times on HFS volumes don't change either. What is going on?
DISCUSSION
The reason the times change is that Mac OS Extended stores the creation and
modification times in GMT time. The offset from GMT is stored in PRAM. This
value is added to the time stored for the file to determine the correct
creation or modification time.The GMT offset is stored when you select a
time zone in the Date & Time...
