ELEMENTAL SOFTWARE AND CHILI!SOFT CO-MARKETING AGREEMENT MAKES IT EASY TO
CREATE ACTIVE SERVER PAGES ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS WITHOUT THE NEED TO CODE

CARLSBAD, Calif., April 13, 1998 -- Without writing a line of code, Web
professionals and business users can now create and deploy dynamic,
database-driven Web sites that take advantage of Microsoft's Active Server
Page (ASP) technology across a wide range of Web server platforms,
including Lotus Domino and Netscape Enterprise Information Servers.
Elemental Software and Chili!Soft, Inc. today announced a cooperative
marketing agreement that delivers Drumbeat 2.0 Web assembly software from
Elemental Software and Chili!Soft's Chili!ASP Web application server
technology with the shipping versions of each others' products.

"Drumbeat 2.0 is all about enabling mere mortals to build Web sites that
look great, and actually do what businesses need them to do," said Peter
Hirshberg, Elemental Software CEO and president, "Active Server Pages are
an essential ingredient in building Web-based business solutions: They
allow Web-site visitors to query and edit information stored in a company's
databases. With this partnership, the two fundamental barriers to the
widespread use of ASP have been removed: Drumbeat eliminates the need to
write code, and Chili!ASP makes ASP work on non-Microsoft servers."

"We believe there's a large and unmet need to extend the ability to create
ASP applications to business users who are not skilled ASP programmers.
Drumbeat does an incredible job - both functionally and from a usability
standpoint -- of addressing this audience," said Charles Crystle, chief
technical officer of Chili!Soft. "By extending the frontiers of Active
Server Pages to so many new users, we expect to see an acceleration in the
trend toward using the Web as a medium for business solutions at all
levels."

Marketing Partnership
The agreement between Elemental Software and Chili!Soft calls for
Chili!Soft to offer an evaluation version of Drumbeat 2.0 with the purchase
of Chili!Soft's Chili!ASP. Elemental Software will distribute Chili!ASP in
the same manner. As part of the partnership, the companies are working
together on future product development, promotion and marketing efforts.

About Chili!ASP
Chili!ASP is an open, cross-platform Web application server that enables
developers of all levels to easily create and deploy powerful,
high-performance Web server applications. Developers can combine HTML,
server-side scripting, and components to create and run Web-based business
applications using Active Server technology. Chili!ASP is the functional
equivalent of Microsoft's Active Server Page(ASP) web application server,
which provides the same functions as Chili!ASP exclusively on Microsoft's
Internet Information Server (IIS). Chili!ASP utilizes the same development
tools and provides ASP functionality to Netscape, Lotus, IBM and other Web
servers.

About Chili!Soft
Chili!Soft is a leading provider of enabling technologies and applications
for ASP-based enterprise solutions. Chili!Soft's products are Chili!ASP,
which enables Active Server Page applications across heterogeneous
computing environments such as NT and UNIX on multiple Web servers, and
Chili!Reports, a robust enterprise reporting system that puts database
information into an Excel spreadsheet on a Web browser. The Bellevue,
Washington company is privately-held, with funding from Draper Fisher
Jurvetson, a leader in the start-up venture capital business. For product
