Pictorius iNet Developer Brings Visual Programming to the Web

Tuesday April 14, 1998 - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada - Pictorius
Incorporated today announced that their iNet Developer product now supports
true, data-driven, object-oriented web application development. Pictorius
has developed a Gallery on their web site highlighting the power of iNet
Developer, its visual programming environment and unique On-Demand HTML
technology. It is available at: http://www.pictorius.com

Leveraging their completely visual programming language, Prograph,
Pictorius has built iNet Developer into a web application framework with a
collection of Internet services that allow professional web developers the
ability to quickly build powerful web applications. Pictorius iNet
Developer is the only Web development environment that has been created
specifically for the Internet professional services industry.

Pictorius iNet Developer is a team-based web application development
platform combining an application server, On-Demand HTML, browser-based
site and content management features and the Prograph development
environment. All of this delivers a unique platform for design, development
and maintenance of large, corporate web sites and web applications.

"Our clients are looking for ways to alleviate the content management
bottleneck and reduce the total cost of ownership of web applications, said
Rob Menzies, Marketing Manager for Intranet Technologies. "iNet Developer
is the perfect tool to make this happen," Menzies continued. "Keeping ahead
of our competition and decreasing development time and cost is the best
thing we can do for our clients. The iNet Developer environment does a
great job of hiding the complexities of HTML allowing us to focus on the
requirements of customer applications and speeding up the process."

"Seeing the web as a collection of objects, as opposed to simply a
collection of pages, and using a visual language to manipulate those
objects, is a natural progression in web development," said Jesse Boudreau,
president and CEO of Pictorius Inc. "The web development framework and
collection of Internet services provided by iNet Developer can simplify the
creation of powerful web-based business applications," Boudreau continued.

iNet Developer evolved from, is written in, and includes, Pictorius' first
product, a world-renowned, visual programming language called Prograph.
Prograph has had over 15 years of research and development devoted to it
since 1983.

Prograph is a fully visual, dataflow-driven programming language designed
for Rapid Application Development (RAD). Users of Prograph have commented
on increases in productivity from 3 to 5 times over traditional text-based
programming languages such as Java, C and C++.

Prograph offers significant advantages over traditional programming
languages. It enables the creation of applications through the linking of
icons into diagrams, which replaces traditional complex blocks of textual
code. This improves software quality by reducing syntax errors. Prograph
also increases programmer productivity by eliminating lengthy and tedious
compile/link/debug cycles. The result is a web development environment
which, by virtue of its speed of development and ease of use, has resulted
in highly productive, low cost development of web-based business
applications.
