MINDVISION SHIPS INSTALLER VISE 5.0, THE BIGGEST RELEASE OF INSTALLER VISE EVER
Now it's easier than ever to build better installers faster

MindVision today announces Installer VISE 5.0. Version 5.0 further
strengthens Installer VISE as the premier installer solution for the
Macintosh, and further demonstrates MindVision's deep commitment to
Macintosh developers and content providers. Installer VISE 5.0 represents
the culmination of an unprecedented level of user-centered design and
engineering investment.

Installer VISE 5.0 offers numerous great new customer-driven features.
Installer VISE 5.0 puts the power into developers hands to build even
better installers. At the same time, MindVision refined, integrated, and
consolidated the user interface to simplify the process of building
installers without sacrificing any capabilities.

Installer VISE has earned the trust and admiration of thousands of
developers for its great feature set and rock-solid reliability.

We spent months talking with our customers, analyzing their suggestions,
and designing ways to improve the product to meet their needs. We devoted
more engineering resources than ever before to guarantee that the software
is packed with high-impact, all-new features, and that end-users get a
great first impression of the software they install.

Fully-functional copies of Installer VISE 5.0 are available for downloading
at (http://www.mindvision.com).

What's New?

First, what's not new is that Installer VISE 5.0 comes complete with our
famous helpful technical support at the same great price -- no extra
charge.

Of course, we did add lots of great, new features, and we've included
highlights of some of them below. If you build installers, Installer VISE
5.0 gives you more of what you want with less effort than before.

Screen shots are available at our web site (http://www.mindvision.com).
More features and more details can be found in the Installer VISE 5.0
manual, also available at the web site.

NEW FEATURES

In short, Installer VISE 5.0 offers a web installer, a reorganized user
interface, custom layouts, flexible report printing, a project window,
embedded archives, multiple build destinations, build directives, enhanced
billboards, user-definable forms, streamlined localization, enhanced action
items, precise icon positioning, runtime variables, and selectable user
interface options for end users. In addition, Installer VISE 5.0 now
includes all of the functionality of Updater VISE built right in.

Active Web Installer -- MindVision built the Web Installation technology
used to deliver Internet Explorer 4.0. Installer VISE 5.0 makes this
technology available for anyone building installers. End-users can download
a small installer that can retrieve the most up-to-date version of software
using their own Internet connection. It's a complete installer experience,
but with the ability to download just the pieces they need.

New & Improved Interface -- We completely redid the window where people
building installers spend most of their time. Not only does it look better,
it works better.

User Definable Custom Layouts - Detail and Columns are both customizable.

Flexible Report Printing - Reports can be customized. This is particularly
useful for large, complicated installations.

Project window -- Provides an overview of an installation archive.

Embedded Archives -- Complex projects can be assembled from a collection of
smaller archives. This greatly simplifies the process of building
installers for complex products.

Multiple Build Destinations -- Use one archive to build multiple installers.

Build Directives -- Include/exclude files based on one or more flags.

Find - Find anything, anywhere within an archive.

Billboards -- Billboard management has been centralized and enhanced. Now
all billboard assignment is done from one window. Billboards can be
assigned by disk, by package or sequentially. Display time can be
individually set for each billboard in a sequence. With all the extra
control, it's now easier than ever to use an installer to deliver
after-the-sale marketing and support information to end-users.

User-Definable Forms -- Installer VISE 5.0's forms are powerful tools for
customizing installers, especially for getting user input during an
installation. Forms can include checkboxes, text fields, static text,
pictures, and buttons. Any form item can be used to set a runtime variable.
Buttons can be programmed to jump to another form, print or email
registration, etc...

Streamlined Localization -- Installer VISE's powerful localization features
have been streamlined so that localization can be done from one window.

Updater VISE Integration -- Using updaters can significantly reduce the
size of installers because updaters store only the difference between old
and new versions, not the whole file. Now that this technology is built
into Installer VISE, it's easier than ever to create updaters.

Enhanced Action Items -- All of Installer VISE's Action items have been
enhanced. Actions now have more power and flexibility to help solve even
the toughest installation problems.

Precise Icon Positioning -- Installer VISE 5.0 allows icons to be
positioned directly in a Finder window, eliminating the need to worry about
icon coordinates.

Runtime Variables -- Runtime Variables can be used for product names,
versions, disk names, etc... They can be used anywhere text may change
during the course of development, or for conditionally-determined wording
at install time. Variables can be set from user-defined forms by the
end-user during the install. Variable values can be tested throughout the
install and used to create conditional installation options.

Installer Interface Options -- Switch easily between the user interface of
an Installer or an Updater. The "Generic" interface is a new option for
producing "installers" which contain primarily action items. Installer VISE
5.0 supports optionally suppressing the Install window, install
cancellation, or success dialogs to build a "faceless" installer.
