SilhouetteFX has released version 5.2 of Silhouette, its stereo roto, paint and keying software. The new Crop Node allows working within a small region of a larger image — using less memory with faster performance. 
Silhouette now supports EXR 2.0 multi-part files. When a multi-part file is loaded, all of its parts are loaded into the Project window ready for selection and use in the project. 
 Extending its Auto Paint tools, you can now play back selected events forward or backward, rebuild paint in stroke order, and duplicate strokes from one stereo view to another. The worldwide tablet grew 11.0% year over year in the second quarter of 2014 (2Q14) with shipments reaching 49.3 million units according to preliminary data from the IDC (http://www.idc.com) research group. Although shipments declined sequentially from 1Q14 by -1.5%, IDC believes the market will experience positive but slower growth in 2014 compared to the previous year. "As we indicated last quarter, the market is still being impacted by the rise of large-screen smartphones and longer than anticipated ownership cycles," says Jean Philippe Bouchard, IDC research director for Tablets. "We can also attribute the market deceleration to slow commercial adoption of tablets. Despite this trend, we believe that stronger commercial demand for tablets in the second half of 2014 will help the market grow and that we will see more enterprise-specific offerings, as illustrated by the Apple and IBM partnership, come to market." RE:Vision Effects has released RE:Flex 5 with GPU support for Adobe After Effects. The app supplies morphing and warping for After Effects. RE:Flex uses both open and closed splines for its free-form interface rather than a mesh-based solution. It combines hand feature-matching with automatic image registration. After aligning the hand matched shapes, RE:Flex uses the tracking found in Twixtor to automatically align the non-handmatched parts of the image; so in many cases less handwork is required.
