SpamSieve 1.2 is now available. Like your professional e-mail client, but jealous of Mail.app's spam filter? SpamSieve brings powerful Bayesian spam filtering to other popular e-mail clients. It learns what your spam looks like, so it can block nearly all of it. It also learns what your good messages look like, so it won't confuse them with spam. Other spam filters get worse over time as spammers adapt to their rules; SpamSieve actually gets better over time as you train it with more messages. SpamSieve doesn't delete any messages--it only marks them in your e-mail client--so you'll never lose any mail. SpamSieve works with any number of mail accounts, of whatever types are supported by your e-mail software (e.g. POP, IMAP, Hotmail). Requirements: Mac OS X 10.1 or later Supports: Emailer, Eudora 5.2, Entourage, Mailsmith, PowerMail Price: $20 (shareware); free upgrade from 1.0 and 1.1 Download: (http://www.c-command.com/downloads/SpamSieve-1.2.dmg) More Info: (http...

Flatten OSX Headers, a tool for REALbasic developers
I would like to announce something specific to developers who are for one reason or another bound to deliver CFM applications, code resources and/or plugins for the MacOS X platform. Nowedays the CarbonLib 1.6 is the last library to which one can link too in a CFM based environment, and any new features in OSX won't make it in carbonlib anymore. Developers know how to weak link to the systemFramework of MacOSX, while the header files in the various frameworks provide the prototypes of the functions available. CodeWarrior does not provide precompiled headers for CFM-based targets, only MACHO-based targets on OSX. The tool provided here is a little application that could have been implemented by MetroWerks. It provides a flattened version of the many framework header files, and does some other interesting things. The flattened headers can be used in CW 4, 5, 6,7, 8, and be precompiled. The advantage then is that one can access any function, use any type, without worrying that it may...

For example, computer number one represents the letter A as 42 and computer number two represents the letter Q as 42, then when a text file was transferred from computer number one to computer number two, all of the A's would be replaced with Q's. ASCII...

November 4, 2002 - MCF Software today announced the release of the SimpleText Filter for EIMS version 1.4. SimpleText Filter for Eudora Internet Mail Server version 1.4 changes: * Added a new virus whitelist type 'z'. If you have a z entry in the whitelist file, then the sender that matches that rule will not be checked against any rules, including virus rules. This works similar to the v entry for recipients. * Added a 'w' modifier for headers. When used it will make the rule a whitelist rule. This allows you to create rules to whitelist messages. * Added a 'h' modifier. When used, it will cause STF to ignore anything between () in a message, including the (). * Fixed a bug that could prevent the filter from yielding time to other threads when doing a large number of body rules. * Changed the require header modifier from ! to r to avoid confusion with the ! for debug mode. ! will be support for some time, but a warning will be placed in the log file about the usage of the obsolete...

Handy plug-in for REALbasic developers targeting Mac OS X
As many of you have noticed, Chad McQuinn is not a .Mac subscriber so the old download site for this plugin is no more. You can now find it at (http://chadmcquinn.home.insightbb.com/osxutils/) Currently you will find the last release, which was 1.2, as well as a new beta version that I hope fixes the bugs that some of you have reported over the months since the last release (and especially since the release of OS 10.2). Those of you wanting stable software should stick with the release version. But if you are brave, or if you can't wait to try out now features or see if your bug got fixed, please try the beta and report back to me any problems you find.
