Bare Bones Software Releases BBEdit 7.0
New Version Adds CVS Support, Multiple Web Site Support, and More

Bedford, MA -- November 13, 2002 -- Bare Bones Software today announced the
release and immediate availability of version 7.0 of BBEdit (tm), the
professional's construction tool for text editing and web development.

BBEdit 7.0 introduces a host of new features, including integrated support
for CVS, the ability to easily configure multiple web sites, powerful new
Sort Lines and Process Duplicate plug-ins, rectangular selection support,
ASP/VBScript syntax coloring support, and more.

New Development Capabilities

BBEdit 7.0 adds integrated support for CVS (the Concurrent Versions System
source control package) when running on Mac OS X, allowing the user to
transparently work with source files from multiple repositories.

Shell worksheet improvements in the new version include tool status
display, 'sudo' support, and improved generation of path names for files
dropped in shell worksheets.

The 'bbedit' command-line tool has been enhanced and now offers go-to-line
number support. Additionally, the installation and updating of this tool
are now managed by the application itself, rather than requiring a separate
installer.

New Web Authoring Features

Work on more than one web site? BBEdit 7.0 allows you to easily configure
multiple web sites via the HTML Web Site preferences and transparently work
with files from any defined site using BBEdit's industry-leading HTML Tools.

Other new features include syntax coloring support for ASP/VBScript, XHTML
1.1 support in the HTML Tools and syntax checker, and a "Close Current Tag"
command which speeds and simplifies HTML tag creation and editing.

New Text Editing Features

The Sort Lines and Process Duplicate Lines plug-ins have been completely
redesigned, and now offer grep pattern support for sorting, extracting, and
handling text more flexibly than ever before.

BBEdit 7.0 adds support for selecting and operating on rectangular regions
of text; this is particularly useful when working with data in tabular
formats. BBEdit's powerful editing and transformation features are easily
applied to such "rectangular selections".

Additionally, BBEdit's new menu-driven and key-bindable Glossary item
selection makes inserting frequently used text into your documents even
faster and easier.

General Improvements

This new version also adds a "Paste Previous Clipboard" command, "Quartz"
text smoothing support in editing views, improved support for Mac OS X
Services (on Mac OS X 10.2), plus palette-savvy window resizing and a new
"atop" window stacking option.

A new plug-in info window displays version information, online help, and
web links for installed plug-ins. Plug-ins can also now be installed via
drag-and-drop.
