'MacTech' adds special media panel session to New York events

MacTech Magazine has added a special bonus presentation for attendees of MacTech Boot Camp and MacTech InDepth: OS X Server Administration in New York City on April 18-19.

The bonus presentation will include a special panel with industry editors about how news is selected and written about, as well as how to generate media coverage. MacTech's double event in New York is part of its massive tour including 15 events spanning the country. The well-received MacTech Boot Camp is designed specifically for small- to medium-sized business consultants wanting to serve their base better and grow their business. MacTech InDepth: OS X Server Administration is specifically designed for those wanting to maximize their use of OS X Server for mobile device management, deployment, DNS, and other services.

MacTech has added a special bonus session for attendees at our New York events this month. The panel, held at 6 pm on April 18, will feature TUAW Editor Michael T. Rose, TidBITS Publisher Adam Engst, and MacTech Publisher Neil Ticktin. This panel discussion will be about how the media determines what is and is not a story, why some stories wither away while others take on lives of their own, and how readers can evaluate the accuracy and utility of any particular story.

But since this is MacTech Boot Camp, which has a distinct focus on Apple consultants and those using Apple devices in small business situations, we'll also discuss ways that consultants can work with the media -- whether local or national -- to increase exposure and bring in more business, with topics ranging from dealing with TV news reporters (they desperately want to film your hands typing) to contributing articles to local newspapers and starting your own newsletter.

"We are thrilled with the reaction from our attendees and sponsors at all of our events. We've found how to build community, help people learn and network, and all this makes for an awesome event," says Neil Ticktin, editor-in-chief/publisher of MacTech Magazine. "In the end, it's all about the content, the people, and the experience -- and we're incredibly excited about all of our events in 2012."

Event sponsors are fully integrated into the event as well with MacTech's QuickTalk, and sponsor tables.

"Microsoft is excited to be a sponsor of all fifteen MacTech events in 2012. MacTech has consistently given us one of the most valuable ways for us to connect with consultants and IT Pros recommending and supporting Microsoft Office for Mac," says Susie McDonald, Microsoft Office marketing manager. "In fact, MacTech Conference was the best Apple related show we have been a part of in the last 2 years."

About MacTech Events

MacTech has assembled a virtual "who's who" in the industry as the sessions chairs and speakers for these events.

MacTech Boot Camp is specifically designed for those techs and consultants supporting home users, small office/home office (SOHO), and small- to medium-sized businesses (SMB). This one day, hotel-based seminar is designed specifically to help you be the most successful consultant you can be.

MacTech InDepth events focus on a single topic for the day, covering it from top to bottom. Based on MacTech's proven approach for delivering a great deal of content in a short period of time, MacTech's events combine expert speakers with hand-picked vendors to bring attendees a solid understanding of the main issues surrounding a topic, answers and methodology, as well as offerings by leading solution providers.

Most events are one day. Three cities have back-to-back one-day events where attendees can take part in one day, or the other, or both. The events started in early March and carry all the way through December 2012. Specifically, the following events are to come:

Apr 18, MacTech Boot Camp, New York, NY

Where one-day events are normally $495 on-site, early bird pricing is $295. MacTech Conference 2012 will hold the same pricing as 2011, with $1299 on-site registration, and $799 early bird. Anyone registering for more than one event can save $50 per event. Registration and locations can be found at http://www.mactech.com/events/locations .
