PowisiCase for the iPad offers lots of options
So many choices, so little time. At least that's what you may think when using your iPad with the Powisicase (http://www.powisicase.com/). It comes in a variety of styles -- from black handcrafted leather to a brightly patterned case (which is a bit too froufrou for me) and offers nine viewing positions.
First, let's look at the practicality of the Powiscase. It has a snap-in frame to hold your iPad securely in place. You push down on the top edges to pop out your iPad, though I had apply more pressure to both insert and remove the iPad than I thought would be required.
Once inserted, the Powiscase offers solid protection for the iPad without adding too much bulk to the Apple tablet. Even though the case, when closed, envelops the iPad, there's still access to the dock.
The PowisiCase has a movable hand strap to keep the tablet securely in your grasp when you're lugging it about. Conveniently, the strap can also be used to secure the case when it's shut, as well.
When it's open, the PowisiCase -- which contorts and flexes with gusto -- offers pretty much all the angles you'll need. Watching videos? Check. Typing? Check. "Finger" painting? Check. Pretty much all the angular bases are covered.
The PowisiCase also has some nice little extras. It has a "secret compartment" for storing a microfiber wipe cloth -- though I found it easier to just keep the cloth in a pocket than fiddling with the secret storage features. There's a convenient business card pocket.
Plus, the PowisiCase looks good and is environmentally friendly. The fiber content of the handcrafted Spanish leather is 100% recycled cowhide fibers. Printed covers are constructed with 100% recycled board.
Prices range from US$59.95 to $79.99. You can also add a company logo or personalize it for some extra moolah. Or you an download your favorite photo or design for a customized case.
Whether you go with a "standard" version or spice it up with your own customizations, the PowisiCase is a durable, flexible iPad companion.
