BatchOutput PDF 2.2.1 adds advanced printer page feed options
Zevrix Solutions has released BatchOutput PDF 2.2.1, a feature update to its solution to automate PDF printing with watched hot folders on Mac OS X.
Users only need to drop PDF files into hot folders, and the documents will be printed automatically using the assigned output preset settings. The new version introduces advanced paper feed options that allow users to specify an output printer tray for all pages, or separate trays for the first page and remaining ones.
The software is available in two licenses: BatchOutput PDF and BatchOutput PDF Server. VirnetX announces denial of Apple's petitions for patent...
VirnetX Holding Corp., an Internet security software and technology company, says the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has denied seven petitions for inter partes review (IPR) filed by Apple.
These petitions sought review of certain claims of VirnetX's U.S. Patent Nos. 6,502,135, 7,418,504, 7,490,151 and 7,921,211. The USPTO found that Apple's petitions weren't filed within the time limit imposed by the statute and declined to institute inter partes review.

Apple has updated Logic Pro X, its professional recording software, to version 10.0.5. The upgrade adds three new drummers and 11 new drum-kit designs.

Apple must adopt new refund policy in Australia
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) says Apple has been lying to consumers about its obligation to replace or repair faulty computers, iPhones, iPads and iPods, but has now promised to retrain staff and reassess claims stretching back two years, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.
The consumer watchdog group says Apple misled customers into thinking they were entitled to less recourse than Australian consumer laws allowed. "The ACCC was concerned that Apple was applying its own warranties and refund policies effectively to the exclusion of the consumer guarantees contained in the Australian Consumer Law," ACCC chairman Rod Sims told The Herald.

Apple has lost a trademark case in New Zealand regarding a waterproof phone case by an inventor named Hayden Crowther, who dubbed his creation the "driPhone."

Xojo has announced Xojo 2013 Release 4, an update of the development tool for web and desktop apps.
Xojo is a multi-platform object-oriented application development tool that enables people to create applications for the desktop, web, web-mobile, and, soon, native mobile. Release 4 contains over 150 improvements, 14 changes and seven new features, including new framework Crypto functions, new examples and improved debugger functionality to allow for easier debugging of threaded code.

Canon announces two new compact laser printers
Canon has announced two new compact laser printers — the imageCLASS LBP6200d and Color imageCLASS LBP7110Cw, for personal, home office and small office users. They'll be available in select office superstores in late January at a minimum advertised price of US$169 and $279, respectively
As one of the most compact units in the series, the imageCLASS LBP6200d printer is connected via USB cable and offers a 250-sheet front loading cassette with black-and-white printing capabilities at speeds up to 26 pages-per-minute (ppm). QuarkXPress 10.0.2 update available
Quark has released QuarkXPress® 10.0.2, an update to its document processing software. QuarkXPress 10 users through Quark Update and is also available to download.

AutoCrypt for Mac OS X revved to version 2.1
Tension Software has updated AutoCrypt, an encryption/decryption app with a document based approach, to version 2.1. It's a maintenance upgrade.
The software lets you save in a document all the settings used to encrypt or decrypt collections of files using a powerful AES-256 algorithm. Using these documents, AutoCrypt can be used for encryption and decryption batch process of large quantity of files in a single click.
AutoCrypt requires Mac OS X 10.8 or higher. It costs US$7 and can be downloaded at the Tension Software web site.
4K Video Downloader gets 'gamification' feature
Open Media has announced 4K Video Downloader, a new version of their most product available for Mac, Windows and Linux systems. 4K Video Downloader allows anyone to download video from YouTube as fast as your computer and connection will allow.
The new version has a "gamification" feature that allows you to download more videos or audio in different modes. This new feature "turns the usual rutina-downloading into engaging social entertainment with levels and quests," according to the folks at Open Media.
Keeping in mind that the gamification helps to learn about new functions of software more easily comparing with traditionals ways like how tos or other guides, Open Media LLC decided to simplify this learning process by implementing achievement badges with small explanations.

Apple has released Mac OS X 10.9.1. You can obtain it via the Mac App Store. According to Apple, the update:
° Improves support for Gmail in OS X Mail, and fixes for users with custom Gmail settings;

° Fixes an issue that prevented the contact groups from working properly in Mail;

Apple moves to suspend antitrust monitor
In a series of court filings last week, Apple officially moved to halt the '"unconstitutional" compliance monitoring imposed as part of the government's e-book antitrust lawsuit, while the Department of Justice defended the monitor's actions and urged that the oversight be upheld, reports "AppleInsider."
Michael Bromwich, the third-party monitor assigned to the case by presiding Judge Denise Cote, "is conducting a roving investigation that is interfering with Apple's business operations, risking the public disclosure of privileged and confidential information, and imposing substantial and rapidly escalating costs on Apple that it will never be able to recover," Apple's lead appeals counsel Theodore Boutrous argued in the company's motion. Beyonce sells 828,773 albums in three days on the iTunes Store
Apple says Beyonce has become the fastest selling album ever on the iTunes Store worldwide with 828,773 albums sold in just its first three days. She also broke the US first week album sales record with 617,213 sold and proved to be a global success going to number one in 104 countries.
The self-titled, Beyonce, is the fifth solo studio album from Beyonce. It was made available exclusively worldwide on the iTunes Store on Dec.13 by Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records. MyIP 2.0 optimized for Mac OS X Mavericks

It can work also in background and can optionally show the current IP in the menu bar.
The public IP is the IP address you use to connect to the global net and is the address the rest of the world "sees" you at.
