NCsoft, TransGaming announce City of Heroes for the Mac
NCsoft, a publisher and developer of massively multiplayer online games (MMOs), has announced a partnership with TransGaming to bring the City of Heroes franchise (http://www.cityofheroes.com/) to the Mac. The game has been enabled for the Mac by TransGaming, a developer of portability technologies for the electronic entertainment industry. City of Heroes for Mac will be available for public beta testing with the release of the game's thirteenth expansion, Issue 13: Power and Responsibility, later this fall. Speck ships SwitchWay case for iPhone 3G
Speck has released a new case for the iPhone 3G: the US$34.95 SwitchWay (http://www.speckproducts.com/content/iphone-3g-switchway). It can be worn in both a horizontal portfolio position and as a vertical wallet-style case. Its two built-in belt clips allow for a quick switch to or from a horizontal or vertical position without needing to adjust or change anything on the case. The clips also enable SwitchWay to attach to a bag strap and the folio styling is ideal for tucking away in a bag or purse. The exterior is protective and scratch resistant, and a soft, padded inner lining works to help clean the screen and protect from scuffs and scrapes. Ifbyphone releases second iPhone app
Ifbyphone (http://www.ifbyphone.com), a telephone application platform company, has released its second iPhone app. Now available for download on the Apple App Store, the Conference Call App enables users to set up conference calls from their iPhones or iPod touch devices spontaneously, or to schedule calls in advance. To start an instant conference call, users create a group of recipients from the contacts in their iPhone address books and tap "schedule conference." WD speeds up My Passport Studio drive with FireWire 800 interface

Sonic Red, Sonic Blue available for iPhone, iPod touch

Studiometry 6.0 adds itemized project estimates, SQL Database,
Oranged Software (http://www.oranged.net/) has released Studiometry 6.0.5, an update to the Mac OS X compatible software for companies to organize, plan, invoice, track and create with Client and Project data. The new version overhauls the Employee Permissions in Studiometry, giving administrators more control over what each Employee can view and edit. Also, Permission sets can now be copied between employees. In addition to reworking the permissions, many new permissions have been added and several old permissions have been split to allow greater control. You can now select a permission in the Employee editing window to view a description of what will be restricted when disabling each item. Memeo brings photo-sharing to Mac, iPhone users
Memeo, which makes digital media management services for the home and business, has announced the availability of photo-sharing applications Mac Memeo Share and MemeoPhoto. These programs let individuals share high-resolution pictures and videos directly to the computer desktops of friends and family from a Mac or iPhone. They join the PC version of Memeo Share, enabling consumers to now share pictures across multiple platforms using the program. TextExpander for Mac OS X adds date math, time math
SmileOnMyMac (http://www.smileonmymac.com/) has updated TextExpander, a Mac OS X utility that lets users define abbreviations for frequently-used text strings and images, to version 2.5. The upgrade adds date math; users can now create snippets that automatically add or subtract years, months, and days from the current date. Time math has also been added, supporting snippets that automatically add or subtract hours, minutes or seconds from the current time. Two built-in snippet groups were added to TextExpander 2.5. The Internet Productivity snippet group includes AppleScripts that automatically shorten URLs using online services such as TinyURL and others. The Symbol snippet group features shortcuts for commonly used symbols including copyright, trademark, euro, command, option and control. LogMeIn has released a beta version of its LogMeIn Ignition software that gives iPhone and iPod touch users secure access to their remote office and home computers. With one-click from their iPhone or iPod touch, customers can connect to their computer and work. Fission update adds ability to save iPhone ringtones
Rogue Amoeba has updated its Fission audio editor (http://www.rogueamoeba.com/fission/download.php) to version 1.6. The upgrade has the ability to save iPhone ringtones, using almost any audio file in any audio format supported by QuickTime. From MP3 to MIDI and everywhere in-between, Fission lets users turn any audio into a ringtone. Users simply open their file in Fission, crop it down to the desired portion of audio (40 seconds or fewer in length), then choose Save as iPhone Ringtone. Fission passes the file off to iTunes with the needed parameters to make the file a ringtone. Once iTunes has the file, it's ready for syncing with an iPhone. Latest Quark versions now working with Cumulus 7.6
Canto (http://www.canto.com) has announced at the IFRA Expo new versions of its Quark integration products: QXP Companion, QXP Server Companion and QPS Companion. The products offer integrations with QuarkXPress, QuarkXPress Server and the Quark Publishing System, respectively. New in the product line is support for QuarkXPress 8, QuarkXPress Server 8 and Quark Publishing System versions 7.4 and 8.
