AppleScript Pro sessions return for 'Florida recount'...
Attendees at the 2008 AppleScript Pro voted it the "best event ever,"
which was valuable feedback since 15 alumni were in attendance. But
now concerns have arisen that there was something fishy with the vote
beyond all the seafood consumed that week. "
We are not positive the vote was accurate," says (with tongue in
cheek) Ray Robertson, session co-leader. "We are going to go back and
make sure we get it right this time. It is going to be grueling to
have so much fun again."
"We were covering Leopard for the first time," said Shane Stanley,
session co-leader. "I suspect an AppleScript rounding error, but
we've been unable to replicate the problem. This time, we are going
to use both vanilla AppleScript and scripting Excel to make sure the
vote is accurate. Even though I'm from Australia, it is my
understanding it won't be the first time this has happened in
Florida."
In addition to correcting voting errors, the conference will cover
automation of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and...

Netgear announces first dual-band firewall with VPN security
NetGear (http://www.netgear.com) has announced the ProSafe Wireless-N
VPN Firewall (SRXN3205) -- which the company says is the first
product to combine dual-band Wireless-N with SSL and IPsec VPN. It
costs US$485 and is Mac compatible.
By incorporating these advanced features, NETGEAR is providing small
offices with an enterprise-class networking solution that addresses
both top security and wireless performance needs, but at a fraction
of the cost, says Jason Leung, NetGear's senior product line manager
for SMB security.
"With the SRXN3205, we have integrated the strengths of our Dual WAN
Gigabit SSL VPN Firewall (FVS336G) with that of a dual-band
Wireless-N access point," he says. "Since the embedded dual-band
Wireless-N radio works at either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz spectrum, offices
in the middle of network upgrades can run at 2.4 GHz for full
backwards compatibility with legacy 802.11g, or 5GHz for maximum
Wireless-N throughput and range."
Similar to NetGear's Dual WAN Gigabit SSL VPN...
