Boris Continuum Complete 6 AE available
Boris FX, a developer of integrated effects technology for video and film, announced that Boris Continuum Complete 6 AE (BCC 6 AE) is now available. BCC 6 AE brings nearly 200 filters to Mac and Windows versions of Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro. The new release features 13 new filters including Extruded Text, Extruded Spline, Type-On Text, Layer Deformer, Smooth Tone, DV Fixer, and Pixel Fixer. Jumsoft releases Keynote Themes FX 4.0
Jumsoft has released Keynote Themes FX 4.0 (http://www.jumsoft.com/themesfx/), which consists of 10 motion themes -- five new ones and five themes from the previous version. They work with Keynote 4.0 or later. Keynote is the presentation component of Apple's US$79 iWork bundle. Each of the five new themes consists of 14 masters. The new themes are Blue Cubes, Finance, Cinema '60, Velvet Draft and Holidays. Presentation in Keynote Themes FX can be exported to QuickTime movies, and that allows everyone to use all the capabilities of motion themes. iPerform3D launches Mac compatible 3D guitar learning system
A company called iPerform3D (http://www.iperform3d.com) is offering what it calls an alternative to Apple's "Learn to Play" feature in GarageBand '09, offering pro/celebrity music instruction. iPerform 3D's solution is the 3D Guitar Learning System, which is Mac and Windows compatible. iPerform3D's newly launched 3D Guitar Learning System uses motion-capture and 3D animation technology. The company says this marks the first time that sophisticated motion-capture technology -- previously limited to big-budget film and video game companies like Sony and Electronic Arts -- is available beyond rarified videogame and entertainment circles via a patented application of the technology. lastminute.com has launched a new, free talking 2009 phrasebook (http://www.realwire.com/writeitfiles/sixinarow.png) for iPhone and iPod touch users in the UK. Developed by Coolgorilla, the phrasebook is available in six different language versions: French, German, Greek, Italian Portuguese and Spanish, and can be downloaded by visiting Apple's App Store. VMware, which makes virtualization solutions, has announced what it says is the first open source client for virtual desktop infrastructure, VMware View Open Client. VMware View enables IT organizations to host user desktops in the datacenter, while letting users access their personalized desktop environments from almost any device, at any time, says Jocelyn Goldfein, vice president and general manager of VMware's Desktop Business Unit. The upgrade offers full support for Dreamweaver CS4, the ability to hide/reveal loop blocks and various enhancements and fixes. Adobe says the 2009 Layer Tennis design tournament will kick off on Friday, Feb. 6, at 3 p.m. Eastern Time. Produced by Coudal Partners and presented by Adobe Creative Suite 4, Layer Tennis is a series of live online design events where creative professionals swap files back and forth in real time while a third party offers play-by-play commentary. Tycoon Games has released Heileen: A Trip To Bavaria, a historical-fiction visual novel game with multiple endings. It's a Flash-based game that requires the latest version (10) of Flash Player. Now users looking down their contact lists see not only the location of their Palringo contacts -- typically a town name -- but also how far away those contacts are from them.
