GhostReader for Mac OS X adds speech tags, automatic language detection
ConvenienceWare has developed GhostReader 2.0, an update to the text-to-speech solution to read texts aloud on your Mac. Offering full playback control, zoom, a pronunciation editor and word highlighting, it can be used with a variety of text formats including PDF, Word, plain text and RTF documents and texts can be converted into audio files.
GhostReader is now available in two versions: GhostReader and GhostReader Plus. The Plus version adds speech tags and automatic language detection on top of the GhostReader feature set. Tags can be used to define each word, sentence or paragraph to have its own voice and speech characteristics.
GhostReader can be used with Apple's built-in voices, or with the Infovox iVox voices. Infovox iVox offers natural-sounding voices in over 30 languages, including children's voices and character and specialty voices for fun and humor.
GhostReader requires OS X 10.9 or later. GhostReader 2.0 and GhostReader Plus 2.0 are exclusively available through the Mac App Store at an introductory price of US$11.99 and $19.99, respectively. A free 15-day trial of both versions is available at ConvenienceWare online (www.convenienceware.com).
