FreeFileSync gives us a free, cross-platform syncing utility
The FreeFileSync open source development team has released FreeFileSync, a free file synchronization utility for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux systms. It's optimized for both CPU and file I/O performance.
On an older computer, the software can purportedly scan a hard drive with 200,000 files in less than three minutes. On a new computer with an SSD drive, the same scan takes about 10 seconds, according to the development team.
Users can automate their synchronization tasks by running FreeFileSync as a batch job. The software can even copy NTFS security permissions and extended attributes such as compressed, encrypted, and sparse.
FreeFileSync supports long file paths with more than 260 characters. For more information, or to download the software, visit http://freefilesync.sourceforge.net/ .
