Companies updating their products for Mavericks compatibility

Lots of software is being updated for OS X Mavericks, which is now available for download. Following are announcements of the latest batch of upgrades.

Zevrix Solutions has announced LinkOptimizer 4.8.7, a compatibility update to its workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. It lets you reduce InDesign link size and speed up processing by eliminating excess image data; performs essential image adjustments, converts image formats and more.

The new version makes LinkOptimizer compatible with OS X Mavericks. The software can be purchased from Zevrix (www.zevrix.com) for $259.95 (a "lite" version is $179.95) as well as from authorized resellers. A demo is available for download.

The update is free for LinkOptimizer 4.x users and $98.78 to upgrade from previous versions. LinkOptimizer is available for Mac OS X 10.5-10.8, a Universal Binary, and works with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop CS3-CC.

° Twocanoes Software has rolled out updates to Winclone 4 and Boot Runner with full compatibility for OS X Mavericks. Winclone 4 is a solution for cloning, resizing and migrating Boot Camp on the Mac.

Winclone Pro 4 also creates installation packages for easy mass deployment of Boot Camp in enterprise environments. Boot Runner is a selection utility for full startup management of multi-boot Macs.

Twocanoes offers support packages for Winclone and Boot Runner that include two years of technical support and maintenance and access to priority technical support and all minor and major upgrades. For more info go to http://twocanoes.com .

° MaBaSoft (www.mabasoft.com) has rolled out Application Wizard 3.4, which solves incompatibilities with Mavericks.

The software provides access to your applications, documents, folders, and disks.
It lets you quickly open, quit, and make applications active, run AppleScripts, and turn single application mode on to reduce screen clutter. Application Wizard also lets you preview images, music, movies, and documents and view file properties and metadata.

It costs $19. A demo is available for download.

° Econ Technologies updates has updated ChronoSync and ChronoAgent for Mavericks compatibility.

The former is a $40 automated synchronization and backup application that can synchronize, backup, and create bootable backups. ChronoAgent for Mac is a $10 utility that runs on the destination Mac and provides a direct connection to ChronoSync. Demos are available for download at www.econtechnologies.com .

° Realmac Software had upgraded Ember, its design app for Mac, to version 1.2. It now requires Mavericks.

Ember 1.2 now analyses the color of images in your Ember library, and allows you to search with natural language colors to find images. You can also now store your Ember library in iCloud, and sync it between any Mac you use.

Ember costs $49.99. You can download it at the Mac App Store.

° Service2Media says the Mavericks web push technology will be supported with immediate effect by all Service2Media Push services. In addition to sending push notification messages to Apple’s mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad, it is now also possible to send messages directly to Apple desktop computers that have the Safari web browser installed. Safari doesn’t even need to be open or active.

If the user has subscribed to a website’s push services, then they will receive these messages, sent by the site directly on their desktop. These notifications look and act the same as normal system or application notifications and can be managed in the same way.

Interested parties are invited to try out the service free of charge and without obligation. Users of Mavericks and Safari 7 can try out sending a web push message at http://www.service2media.com/webpush .

° Redfin, the technology-powered real estate brokerage (www.redfin.com), has rolled out a new instant notification feature for Redfin website users on Safari in Mavericks. The new feature applies push notifications, a new addition to Safari, to information about specific homes on the market and new listings.

These notifications appear even when Safari isn't running; when Redfin users are away from their computer, a summary of notifications will appear to show what they missed. This is a new Safari feature; push notifications were previously enabled in apps, but Mavericks will for the first time bring Web-based notifications to Apple's desktop operating system.
