Mac OS X software updates for Nov. 20
Here are the latest updates for Mac OS X apps:
Avenza Systems (www.avenza.com) -- producers of the PDF Maps app for iOS and geospatial plugins for Adobe Creative Suite, including Geographic Imager for Adobe Photoshop -- has released MAPublisher 9.1 for Adobe Illustrator, which includes a number of enhancements. MAP Web Author now has the ability to export HTML5 web maps (in addition to the already available Flash output), which are suitable for mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones. In addition, the MAPublisher LabelPro extension has been updated to include the ability to use label filters and expressions for even more detailed labeling as well as a redesigned and more flexible user interface.
Nuance Communications (www.nuance.com) has announced Dragon Dictate for Mac 3.0.1, an update of the voice recognition software. It's a maintenance update with some bug fixes.
Noodlesoft has rolled out Hazel 3 (www.noodlesoft.com/hazel.php) for Mac OS X. The update of the automated organization tool fixes a crash in notification options.
Publicspace.net has given us Vitamin-R 1.54 (www.publicspace.net/Vitamin-R/index.html), an update of its productivity tool for creative professionals. The new version fixes a workflow bug.
Equinux (www.equinux.com) has revved VPN Tracker, its IPSec-based VPN client, to version 6.4.5. The upgrade adds a workaround for an issue in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion that prevents a remote DNS server from being set for all domains.
MacPractice (www.macpractice.co) has cooked up MacPracticee MD, DDS, DC, and 20/20 version 4.2.3 with numerous functionality enhancements. For instance, the upgrade provides compatibility with Lion and Mountain Lion, and Apple’s MacBook Pro with Retina Display.
