Mac OS X software updates for Sept. 21
Here are the latest updates for Mac OS X apps:
Apple has posted firmware and SMC updates for its recent MacBook laptops, including 2012 models of the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro with Retina Display. You can obtain the updates via the Software Updates component of the Mac OS X Systems Preferences app.
Apple has also released Xcode 4.5, an update of its software development tool. The new version adds support for Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and iOS 6.
Maintain has released Cocktail 6.1 (Mountain Lion Edition), the latest maintenance update for users running Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Cocktail is a general purpose utility for OS X that lets you clean, repair and optimize your Mac. This version adds Mountain Lion 10.8.2 compatibility and the ability to disable leather skin in Calendar and Contacts.
Growl, a notification system, has been revved to version 2.0. The upgrade -- available at the Mac App Store -- adds support for the Notification Center in Mountain Lion.
