MultiSpec

MultiSpec (http://www.purdue.edu) is a processing system for interactively analyzing Earth observational multispectral image data such as that produced by the Landsat series of Earth satellites and hyperspectral image data from current and future airborne and spaceborne systems such as AVIRIS. The primary objective of MultiSpec is as an aid to export the results of research into devising good methods for analyzing such hyperspectral image data.

NAG C Library

The NAG C Library (http://www.nag.com/) provides over 850 of NAG's numerical algorithms for a broad range of mathematical and statistical areas. It's intended for software and application developers seeking to create computationally intensive applications, or products and solutions for clients in a wide range of disciplines. The same company makes the NAG Fortran Library, which provides over 1,280 of NAG's callable routines for a broad range of mathematical and statistical areas, and NAGWare f95 Compiler, which brings full Fortran 95 standards compliance, Fortran 2000 features, and the capability to readily handle legacy code, to Mac OS X.

NCL binaries

The NCAR Command Language (http://www.ncar.ucar.edu/) is a programming language designed specifically for the access, analysis, and visualization of data. NCL can be run in interactive mode, where each line is interpreted as it is entered at your workstation, or it can be run in batch mode as an interpreter of complete scripts.

NetLogo

NetLogo (http://ccl.northwestern.edu/) is a programmable modeling environment for simulating natural and social phenomena. It's designed for modeling complex systems developing over time. Modelers can give instructions to hundreds or thousands of independent "agents" all operating in parallel.

Neural Network Toolbox

Neural Network Tool (http://www.mathworks.com) provides a complete set of functions and a graphical user interface for the design, implementation, visualization, and simulation of neural networks. It supports the most commonly used supervised and unsupervised network architectures and a comprehensive set of training and learning functions.

Neural Networks

Neural Networks (http://www.wolfram.com) is a collection of Mathematica tools to train, visualize, and validate neural network models; with support for a comprehensive set of neural network structures. It also includes special functions for addressing typical problems in data analysis, such as function approximation, classification and detection, clustering, nonlinear time series, and nonlinear system identification problems.

NMRPipe

NMR Pipe (http://spin.niddk.nih.gov/bax/software/NMRPipe/) provides facilities for Fourier processing of spectra in one to four dimensions, as well as a variety of facilities for spectral display and analysis.

Noble Ape Simulation

Noble Ape (http://www.nobleape.com/) is a public-access development forum for artificial intelligence, simulation and virtual reality software. Simulates a biological environment and cognitive simulation.

NoteBookMaker

Notebook Maker (http://www.notebookmaker.com/) is an electronic laboratory notebook that's 21 CFR Part 11 compliant. It's used instead of the traditional laboratory notebook for recording research notes, technical data, or other info.

StarProbe

StarProbe (http://www.roselladb.com/) is general purpose cross-platform data mining software suite that works with common database systems and incorporates statistics, machine learning, data warehousing, OLAP and business intelligence, providing hotspot analysis, predictive modeling (decision tree, neural network, rule induction), neural clustering, data visualization, statistics, regression, correlation analysis.

Stata

Stata (http://www.stata.com/) is a programmable statistical package with analytical, graphical, and data management capabilities. In addition to general-purpose capabilities such as summary statistics, ANOVA, linear and non-linear regression, time series, models for binary, count, limited dependent variables, and panel data, there are methods for nonparametric, multivariate, resampling and simulation, survey, and survival analysis. Stata also provides transforms and normality tests, model testing and post-estimation support, maximization of user-specified likelihood functions and tools for epidemiologists.

Stateflow Coder

Stateflow Coder (http://www.mathworks.com) generates embeddable integer, floating-point or fixed-point C code for stand-alone targets. It can generate code exclusively for the Statflow portion of a Simulink model as well as code that's inserted as subroutines into existing code.

Statistics Toolbox

Statistics Toolbox (http://www.mathworks.com) provides functions and graphical user interfaces for analyzing historical data, modeling data, simulating systems, and developing statistical algorithms. These functions address a range of statistical areas such as linear and nonlinear modeling, multivariate statistics, calculation and fitting of probability distributions, hypothesis testing, and more.

StdMap

StpMap (http://amath.colorado.edu/faculty/jdm/stdmap.html) displays the dynamics of several "area preserving" mappings. These are examples of conservative systems (like the forced pendulum) that exhibit chaotic behavior. It will also find periodic orbits, cantori, and stable and unstable manifolds of any (symmetric) periodic orbit.

Symbolic Math Toolbox

Symbolic Math Toolbox (http://www.mathworks.com) combines the symbolic mathematics and variable precision arithmetic capabilities of the Maple 8 symbolic engine with the powerful numeric and visualization capabilities of MATLAB.

Sysquake

Sysquake (http://www.calerga.com/) makes use of interactive graphics to reveal insights into complex mathematical and engineering problems. It's a general-purpose scientific application that uses scripts to solve problems and produce static graphics.

System Identification Toolbox

The System Identification Toolbox (http://www.mathworks.com) is a collection of MATLAB functions for creating mathematical models of dynamic systems. It allows you to create models based on observed input/output data.

TAMS Analyzer

TAMS Analyzer (http://tamsys.sourceforge.net/) is a qualitative research package that provides support for transcription, coding, analysis, and reporting of qualitative data (interviews, observations, text data). The program supports team work through a central MySQL server or stand alone projects, typical of dissertations. The TAMS Analyzer supports QuickTime compatible media files (AIFF, WAV MP3) etc., which can be linked to transcripts or logs. The program also supports hierarchical code systems as well as arbitrary grouping of codes into complex sets which can be analyzed through either graphical or table style reports.

TECH

TECH (http://www.linguistsoftware.com/) makes available to scientists a program for complex scientific and mathematical equations.
