[NPL] Cruise Control Software: Voice Agents

WALNUT SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES CRUISE CONTROL
VOICE AGENT PLUG-IN

Drag-and-Drop Macintosh Automation Software Adds Voice Command Capabilities

MIDDLETOWN, NY (May 28, 1999) Walnut Systems today announced a new
plug-in that further enhances the power and flexibility of their
Cruise Control Software. The new plug-in, Voice Agents, is the first
in a comprehensive set of tools that will add new functionality and
capability to the drag-and-drop automation software.

The Voice Agents plug-in adds speech recognition capabilities to
Cruise Control, enabling users to easily create any series of
voice-triggered tasks without having to program or write complicated
scripts. Tasks can be as simple as checking E-mail and printing
reports, or as complex as telling the computer to with one spoken
command log onto the Internet, download a complete stock portfolio,
print the results, and then turn itself off!

Building even complex voice-controlled tasks requires nothing more
than dragging and dropping the desired actions onto the new Voice
Agents tab. Using Apple Computers proven voice recognition
technology, the speaker-independent Voice Agents plug-in requires no
training to recognize a users voice.

Computers are supposed to make things simpler and eliminate the need
to perform routine tasks, observed Dave Walton, president and
founder of Walnut Systems. Cruise Control and the new Voice Agents
plug-in makes it easy for Macintosh users to literally tell their
computers what do to and when to do it, without having to learn how
to program or master scripting languages.

The Voice Agents plug-in requires a PowerPC equipped Macintosh and is
available for $29. It is available for immediate download from the
Walnut Systems website. For more information contact Walnut Systems
at (800) 945-8024 or (914) 344-5497 or visit them on the worldwide
web at www.walnutsys.com.

About Cruise Control
The best way to perform essential, yet routine computer tasks, Cruise
Control is the all-in-one solution for automating Macintosh and Power
Macintosh computers.

The first commercial independent-automation program for the
Macintosh, Cruise Control features user-friendly drag and drop
operation, making light work of mundane tasks. Users simply drag the
icon for the desired task onto the appropriate agent such as the
calendar to schedule automatic operations. Any task that is performed
mechanically and repetitively can and

should be automated with Cruise Control. Tasks may be scheduled for
one time operation, repeated hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or
yearly, during idle periods, or triggered by voice command. Cruise
Control will even turn on the computer to perform tasks in the middle
of the night, and shut down a users computer after work, even if the
user forgets. Multiple tasks may be easily combined to create
complete automated solutions.

Cruise Control manages automated tasks through the use of three types
of objects agents, actions, and targets. Agents, such as Calendar
agents and the new Voice agents, permit users to decide when or how
they want a series of actions performed. Actions perform single
tasks such as opening documents, copying files, or getting onto the
worldwide web. Targets are used by actions to specify files, folders,
local and remote volumes, and even web page locations. An agent can
be combined with any number of actions and targets to create
comprehensive automated solutions with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Assuring users that they will always be able to enhance the
functionality of Cruise Control, the software uses a unique dynamic
plug-in architecture that permits any part of the software to be
expanded.

About Walnut Systems
Walnut Systems was founded in 1997 to satisfy the growing need for
sophisticated yet easy-to-use utilities for the re-emerging Macintosh
computer market. The privately held software developer is located in
Middletown, New York, in the scenic Hudson Valley. Walnuts flagship
product, Cruise Control, sets the standard for drag-and-drop
automation of Macintosh and Power Macintosh computers.
