Metrowerks Outlines Plans for New Development Tools for Mac OS X at Apple's
Worldwide Developers Conference 2000

WWDC, SAN JOSE, Calif.-May 15, 2000-Metrowerks today outlined plans to
deliver CodeWarrior(r) development tools and online training for Apple's
upcoming Mac OS X operating system. Metrowerks released a beta version of
its CodeWarrior development tools for Mac OS X today at Apple's Worldwide
Developers Conference.

The new CodeWarrior tools are designed to take advantage of the unique new
features of Apple's Mac OS X and will incorporate the look and feel of Mac
OS X's new "Aqua" user interface. The tools will also offer backwards
compatibility, allowing Mac developers to write applications for Mac OS X
that will also run on earlier versions of Mac OS. The beta released today
includes tools that will be part of a new version of CodeWarrior for Mac OS
available late third quarter of this year.

"Our development tools for Mac OS X ... will provide developers with
everything they need to create the innovative, cutting-edge applications
that have always defined the Macintosh market," said David Perkins,
president and CEO, Metrowerks. "It is important to Metrowerks that our
developer community have these tools as soon as possible. By providing them
with the beta of the tools for Mac OS X, we ensure that developers will be
successful in migrating their applications to this important new operating
system."

"Hundreds of developers have already rallied around Mac OS X, Apple's next
generation operating system," said Clent Richardson, Apple's vice president
of Worldwide Developer Relations. "We are thrilled that the CodeWarrior
development tools will continue to play an important role in the
proliferation of Macintosh applications on Mac OS X around the world."

Approximately 90 percent of the Macintosh applications on the market today
were developed using Metrowerks' CodeWarrior IDE.

"As a longtime user of Metrowerks' CodeWarrior development tools, Corel
looks forward to the release of the CodeWarrior IDE for Apple's Mac OS X
operating system," said Ian LeGrow, vice president, Creative Products
Group. "CodeWarrior is a powerful and flexible development environment
which has served us well for all of our Mac development."

CodeWarrior for Mac OS X Features
Metrowerks' development tools for Mac OS X contain new features that will
help developers get the most out of the Mac OS X operating system,
including a new debugger that supports single machine debugging on Mac OS X
as well as remote debugging to OS X. The tools will also support new Mac OS
X technologies in PowerPlant, Metrowerks' object-oriented application
framework and class libraries for 68K and PowerPC Macintosh. These
technologies include Apple's Carbon Events API (Application Programming
Interface) and CoreFoundation API.

In addition, the CodeWarrior development tools for Mac OS X, including the
IDE, debugger and compiler, utilize Apple's new Carbon application
environment. This means that developers using the new CodeWarrior tools
will be able to optimize their applications to run on Mac OS X.

Availability and Pricing

The CodeWarrior tools for Mac OS X demonstrated at WWDC will be part of a
new version of CodeWarrior for Mac OS available late third quarter of this
year. Pricing has not been announced. A beta version of the CodeWarrior
tools for Mac OS X has been made available to WWDC attendees. Registered
users of CodeWarrior for Mac OS Version 5.0 may request a copy of the beta
online at: http://www.metrowerks.com/go/betax.
