[MD1] MacHack 98 Call for Papers

Call for Papers - MacHack '98
June, 1998 - Dearborn, Michigan

Do you have a pet project or cool new way of thinking about programming?
Want to share your software-design experiences with your peers? Do you want
to get technical information out to seasoned developers who can use it well
and wisely? If so, consider writing a paper for MacHack '98 -- the 13th
Annual Conference for Leading Edge Developers with support from MacTech
Magazine and Apple Computer, Inc.

Some areas in which papers have been previously written for MacHack include
adaptive computing, the business of Macintosh development, game design, and
network programming, debugging, the programming subculture, virtual
reality, and Mac OS internals and hacks. Other categories are acceptable: a
paper could cover topics from Rhapsody, BeOS, MkLinux, or even Windows.
Although topics need not be strictly Mac OS-bound, they should tie in with
Macintosh programmers/programming. Better yet, write up a topic from
cross-platform development!

If you are interested in sharing your in-depth knowledge of a technique,
technology, philosophical point, or some other scintillating bit of arcana,
send e-mail to (machack-papers@machack.com) with your idea, abstract,
questions, or other secrets. Abstracts are needed by March 1st, 1998, so
procrastination is probably unwise.

If your paper is accepted, your registration is free! Regardless of whether
you decide to write a paper, attendance at MacHack *is* limited, so please
register early. A bound copy of the proceedings & a Best Hack CD-ROM will
be distributed to all attendees.

About MacHack and Expotech
--------------------------
In 1986, some folks at the Computer Aided Engineering Network of the
University of Michigan thought the brand new Macintosh technology would be
a good thing to know more about. They planned an academic conference
related to Macintosh system management issues. They gathered content and
speakers, then faced with the logistics of managing the conference, asked
Expotech to run it. The first MacHack was quite successful. U-M decided
they would rather not run such a conference again, even though those who
attended it wanted more. So it came to pass that the rights to the name
MacHack was transferred to Expotech, who have run all MacHack conferences
since. Expotech is a conference management company, incorporated in 1986.
While Expotech staff has aggregated more than 55 years' experience running
conferences of all types and sizes, the company specializes in technical
conferences.
