Metrowerks Ships New CodeWarrior Tools for
3Com(R) PalmPilot(TM) Organizer and IBM(R) WorkPad(TM) PC Companion

AUSTIN, Texas - February 3, 1998 - Metrowerks Inc. (NASDAQ: MTWKF,
TSE/ME:MWK) announced today they have begun shipping Release 4 of
CodeWarrior for Palm OS(TM), the latest version of the companys popular
set of development tools for building Palm Computing(R) platform
applications for the 3Com PalmPilot Organizer, IBM WorkPad PC Companion,
and Franklin Day Planner(R) The Palm Computing platform is an open
architecture consisting of the reference hardware design, Palm OS,
HotSync(R) conduit data synchronization technology, platform component
tools, and software interface capabilities to support hardware add-ons.

Hosted on Windows(R) 95, Windows NT(R), and Mac(R) OS, Release 4 of
CodeWarrior for Palm OS boasts many new features, including: C++ support;
increased support for stand-alone code resources and multi-segment
applications; debugger console, which allows the user to communicate with
the target device; support for debugging directly from the IDE; and, most
importantly, a greatly improved version of Windows-hosted Constructor for
Palm OS. CodeWarrior Constructor allows programmers to visually design
graphical user interfaces simply by dragging objects from a palette and
dropping them where they should appear in the final Palm Computing platform
application.

CodeWarrior for Palm OS is a tightly integrated development environment
complete with editor, project manager, C/C++ compiler, source- and
assembly-level debugger, direct-to-device debugger, stand-alone assembler,
GUI layout tools, and linker. It allows developers to take advantage of the
enhanced TCP/IP support in the Palm OS 2.0 and design new applications to
quickly and easily synchronize Palm OS data over corporate intranets and
in-house networks.

"Weve greatly expanded the capabilities of our Palm Computing platform
development tools with the introduction of Release 4 of CodeWarrior for
Palm OS," said Jean Belanger, chairman and chief executive officer of
Metrowerks. "Our Palm OS tools now include additional support for C++ and
newly expanded functionality for our CodeWarrior Constructor interface
tools which make developing Palm Computing platform- based apps easier than
ever before."

"With the tremendous success of the PalmPilot organizer and other devices
based on the market-leading Palm Computing platform, were seeing an
increased demand for a variety of solutions driven by the needs of vertical
markets and the enterprise in general," said Mark Bercow, vice president
strategic alliances and platform development for Palm Computing, Inc., a
3Com Company. "CodeWarrior is a useful and powerful development tool with
which to create these applications."
