Ingest Engine moves tape to digital workflows
Popwire has released Ingest Engine 10, a solution for moving tape based content to the digital workflow.
It's a client/server solution. This means that several clients can work with importing and storing the media on one central server that is also hooked up to the tape player (DV, Beta, etc.) where the actual importing takes place. You need one server, one interface between the tape player and the server and, naturally, one tape player. You can add more servers with attached tape players later if need be and still control them from the same client computers.
Igest Engine handles MPEG-2, DV, MPEG-4 Proxy, PBF or Uncompressed 4:2:2 and support VTR control via the standard RS-422 remote protocol. Each server can handle one video adapter, and Ingest Engine currently supports the AJA Io series of video capture units (which are Mac compatible).
