Alongside the WWDC 2024 announcement, Apple has refreshed the apple.com homepage. The updated look features a minor design change with the use of rounded rectangle shapes for the ‘learn more’ and ‘buy’ buttons on the various product tiles.

More significantly, there’s an entirely new row at the bottom of the featured products grid. Below the carousel for TV+ originals, there’s a new slider featuring content from Apple’s other content services: Apple Music, Apple Arcade and Apple Fitness+.

A confusing update to Apple's Developer pages claims that iPadOS 17.4.1 is shipping on March 26, despite having already been released on March 21.

Following iOS and iPadOS updates late last week, Apple has released a complementary update to macOS Sonoma with security updates and some big bug fixes.

It's still not fully clear what the update contains in its entirety. The patch notes displayed for a manual update mention the updates provide "important bug fixes and security updates," and that it is "recommended for all users."

Apple has unveiled a new Documentation site that lets users browse for information about Apple hardware and (older) software. It’s a big win, especially considering the sorry state of the Apple website’s search engine, but some parts of it still need work.

Just days after the first reports claimed Apple was looking for a local AI provider in China, local media is claiming that the deal has already been made.

According to a March 22 report, Apple was feeling out potential partners in China to supply generative AI technologies, to avoid potential regulatory issues. Now, it appears that Apple has stopped its search and has settled on Baidu.

A report from the local China Star Market seen by SCMP writes that Apple has selected Baidu for its generative AI work. Anonymous sources also confirm that the decision was made based on compliance considerations.

Apple TV+ has now been with us for almost half a decade, and it appears to have been a success financially — but it's certainly a hit for audiences.

Unbelievably, it was back in 2019 when Oprah Winfrey revealed she was switching to the newly-announced Apple TV+. She also revealed why — "Apple is in a billion pockets, y'all," she said.

Apple TV+ is really only available on those of the billion who have subscribed, though, or are on a free trial. At times Apple has really pressed on that trial option, offering generous free months, or bundling it in with every tier of the Apple One bundle.

According to a new analyst note from Jeff Pu at Haitong International Tech Research, seen by 9to5Mac, Apple is planning changes to the A18 Pro chip specifically for on-device artificial intelligence. Pu also writes that Apple is ramping up A18 Pro chip production earlier than usual.
