While macOS upgrades should always proceed in a sequential fashion, sometimes things go awry. Typically, the Software Update preference pane shows all updates available for your current release of macOS, and when installed, they disappear from the list.

However, I recently had a crash during an update that left me confused as to whether a security fix was installed or (based on errors) the whole thing had gone pear-shaped. Software Update showed no outstanding items to install, but I wanted to be sure.

Fortunately, there’s a way to review your system upgrade history, though you may have never needed to dig it up before:

1. Hold down Option while choosing the  menu and select System Information.

EyeQue, which specializes in smartphone vision testing, has announced EyeQue VisionCheck 2, a refraction device available for consumers to test their own vision and order new glasses with the results.

VisionCheck 2 is a combination of a lightweight optical smartphone attachment and mobile app. The test results are expressed as EyeGlass Numbers (EGNs), the lens-power needed to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, which can be used to order new eyeglasses from many online retailers.

It’s been a long wait, but the latest Apple headphones were finally unveiled yesterday. Nobody expected them to be cheap, of course – this is Apple – but the $549 price of AirPods Max has raised quite a few eyebrows.

Right after the Apple event in October, Samsung mocked the company for not including the power adapter in the iPhone 12 box and also removing it from the older models. Now, as some rumors have predicted, the Galaxy S21's documentation suggests that it will also not come with a charger included in the box. 9to5Mac reports: As reported by Brazilian website Tecnoblog, the new Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra have just been approved by ANATEL in Brazil, which is the equivalent agency to the FCC in the United States. The new devices have the codenames SM-G991B/DS, SM-G996B/DS, and SM-G998B/DS, respectively. While the documentation filed at ANATEL doesn't reveal much detail about upcoming Galaxy smartphones, it does reveal a noteworthy change in the lineup of Samsung's phones for the next year. ANATEL says that all three new Galaxy S21 models will not have a charger included in the box. Headphones will not be included either.

Contrary to rumors leading up to Tuesday's AirPods Max release, the high-end headphone does not appear to incorporate Apple's U1 Ultra Wideband chip for orientation awareness.Though it features a slew of sensors, AirPods Max lacks Apple's specialized U1-based positioning technology, according to a device specifications webpage.Apple notes each ear cup holds an optical sensor, position sensor, case-detect sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope and nine microphones. Apple wants an Australian court to throw out a case brought by Epic Games, the company behind Fortnite, because the developer promised to settle disputes in the U.S. only, reports the Australian Associated Press.

The Release Candidate version of iOS 14.3 is now available to developers and public beta users. In addition to many of the changes we’ve already reported, iOS 14.3 RC includes changes to the TV app, the Health app, and more. Apple has also released watchOS 7.2 RC and tvOS 14.3 RC.

With today’s release of iOS 14.3 RC, we expect a release to the general public sometime within the next week, likely on Monday, December 14.
