Realmac Software announces Ember web service for creative pros
Realmac Software has announced the immediate availability of Ember (http://emberapp.com), a new "inspiration-sharing" web service for creatives. The application replaces Realmac Software's previous QuickSnapper service, and adds a number of requested features. "Ember lets designers build an online scrapbook of design inspiration, and its seamless integration with our desktop and iPhone LittleSnapper applications makes it the easiest way for designers to share their inspiration online," says Daniel Counsell, director and founder of Realmac Software. The web service allows users to upload images, apply tags and descriptions, and build collections of any images they discover on the service. Drive Genius ready for Snow Leopard
Prosoft Engineering has updated Drive Genius (http://prosofteng.com/newdesign/products/drive_genius.php) to version 2.2, which is ready for the upcoming Mac OS X 10.6 ("Snow Leopard"). The new version also sports Improved defragmentation functionality, enhanced repartition performance and other improvements. Eye-Fi unveils new Apple exclusive card with geotagging

Zepherella plans healthcare pricing app for the iPhone
Zepherella (http://www.zepherella.com), the creator of "no-surprise healthcare pricing," has begun piloting an iPhone compatible application to supplement the company's web site. Both the app and the site give physicians a quick way to inform their patients about the cost of their medical care from inside the exam room. "Zepherella created this enhancement so both doctor and patient alike can have real time access to prices and discounts for specific services," saysTom Furr, Zepherella's CEO. "This eliminates the guessing game for doctors and their patients when the need for lab tests or other services surface during an office visit." Zepherella is conducting a pilot release of its service in North Carolina prior to an anticipated regional rollout later this year. FontGear (formerly Morrison SoftDesign) has released FontGenius 1.0 for Mac OS X. It's a font identification utility that costs US$39.99 for a single-user license. A demo version is available for download at the FontGear web site (http://www.FontGear.net). FontGenius examines pictures and identifies typefaces of any text within a picture. Using advanced recognition technology, FontGenius will produce a list of likely fonts that match selected characters within an image, and will generate character previews of the matched fonts. Apple has announced financial results for its fiscal 2009 third quarter that ended June 27. It was the best non-holiday quarter for revenue and earnings in the company's history. The company posted revenue of US$8.34 billion and a net quarterly profit of $1.23 billion, or $1.35 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $7.46 billion and net quarterly profit of $1.07 billion, or $1.19 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter.
