MacWise 15.3 now compatible with El Capitan
Carnation Software has released MacWise 15.3 (www.macwise.com), an update to its terminal emulation software for Macintosh.
MacWise allows a Macintosh to be used as a terminal, connected to a host computer directly, by modem, local area network or over the Internet with telnet or ssh secure shell. MacWise emulates ADDS Viewpoint, Wyse 50, Wyse 60, Wyse 370, Televideo TV 925, DEC VT100, VT220 and Prism terminals. At an employee meeting in Cupertino this morning, CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple recently sold the billionth iPhone.

Apple has announced financial results for its fiscal 2016 third quarter that ended June 25. The company posted quarterly revenue of $42.4 billion and quarterly net income of $7.8 billion, or $1.42 per diluted share.
These results compare to revenue of $49.6 billion and net income of $10.7 billion, or $1.85 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 38% compared to 39.7% in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 63 percent of the quarter’s revenue.
“We are pleased to report third quarter results that reflect stronger customer demand and business performance than we anticipated at the start of the quarter,” said CEO Tim Cook. “We had a very successful launch of iPhone SE and we’re thrilled by customers’ and developers’ response to software and services we previewed at WWDC in June.”

MailButler, the Apple Mail assistant by Feingeist Software G(https://www.feingeist.io/), has added a new feature: ”Snooze,” which allows users to better control their inbox by temporarily making selected emails disappear for a scheduled amount of time.
MailButler allows you to schedule an email to be sent at a specific date and time. For example, you can compose birthday emails ahead of the actual date. You just define the exact date when you want to send the email, and MailButler takes care of the rest.
MailButler also allows you to convert your emails into notes. This includes formatting, file attachments, tags, reminder date and other meta information. Notes contain a direct reference to the source email from which it was created.

Avira, a security software company, has launched Mac Antivirus Pro, a channel-optimized version of its AV security software for OS X devices.
Avira’s Mac Antivirus Pro was designed for channel resellers to serve business customers with mixed-OS environments. The new Pro version features simplified cross-platform software installation and a new product licensing model that allows resellers to use the same paid license across any combination of OS X and Windows devices, according to Anja Zimmermann, director of Global Channel Sales at Avira.
