Apple updates firmware for its 802.11n AirPort Base Stations
Apple has released firmware 7.6.7 for all of its 802.11n AirPort Base Stations. This includes the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule.
According to Apple's release notes, it improves stability and performance for its AirPort Base Stations. It also fixes an issue which may prevent communication between clients.
Apple has also released firmware 7.7.7 for the 802.11ac AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule. The updates can be applied by using the AirPort Utility app on iOS or OS X.

Tension Software updates Mac Restart to version 2.0
Tension Software (www.tensionsoftware.com) has revved Mac Restart to version 2.0. The app is used for “soft” and “hard” restarts.
A soft restart is issued at the Finder level and quits all running apps before restarting the Mac. A hard restart is issued at the system level and offers a low level of probability of having the restart interrupted by an app refusing to quit.
Mac Restart 2.0 can be used as a status menu only app that’s always available from the menu. It also uses the latest Apple XPC technology to provide admin right actions.

Apple opens development office in Hyderabad, India
Apple has announced the opening of a new office in Hyderabad, India, that will focus on development of Maps for the Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. This investment will accelerate Maps development and create up to 4,000 jobs.
“Apple is focused on making the best products and services in the world and we are thrilled to open this new office in Hyderabad which will focus on Maps development,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. “The talent here in the local area is incredible and we are looking forward to expanding our relationships and introducing more universities and partners to our platforms as we scale our operations.”

Apple has announced a new initiative to support engineering talent and accelerate growth in India’s iOS developer community.
The company will establish a Design and Development Accelerator in Bengaluru, the home of India’s startup scene. Tens of thousands of developers in India make apps for iOS, and this initiative will provide additional, specialized support for them, says Apple CEO Tim Cook. Apple celebrates Chinese music with GarageBand update
Apple has announced an update to GarageBand for both OS X and iOS that celebrates the rich history of Chinese music with new instruments and extensive Chinese language localization throughout the app.
The upgrades build on GarageBand’s extensive collection of sounds, this update adds traditional Chinese instruments — the pipa, erhu and Chinese percussion — along with 300 Apple-created Chinese musical loops. GarageBand for iOS users also get two new Chinese templates for Live Loops, and new sharing options to popular Chinese social networks, so they can share their music creations with friends and followers across QQ and Youku.

Apple releases plethora of software updates
Apple has released a plethora of software updates for iTunes, OS X, iOS, watchOS and tvOS.
iTunes 12.4 for OS X sports a redesigned interface that’s designed to be simpler. It also hopefully resolves an issue that could cause music stored in iTunes to be deleted. iTunes 12.4 can be downloaded at the Mac App Store.
Mac OS X 10.11.5 offers bug fixes and security enhancements. It’s also available at the Mac App Store.
iOS 9.3.2 focuses mainly on under-the-hood performance improvements and bug fixes. You can download it at the Apple App Store or via the General/Software Updates component of the Settings app.
tvOS 9.2.1 and watchOS 2.2.1 are designed to deal with various bugs. The tvOS update can be found in the fourth-generation Apple TV's settings app. Apple Watch updates are installed through the iOS Watch app on a connected iPhone.

Chronos Inc. has rolled out iClipboard 6, an upgrade to its clipboard manager for Mac OS X (10.11 and later). According to Jerry Halls, vice president of Sales at Chronos, new features include:

° Support for long (instead of abbreviated) text clippings;
° An overhaul of plain text pasting so it's faster, easier, and not a global setting;
° On-the-fly text transformations instead of global setting;
° Clipping info shown directly in Shelf;

Also, shortcuts are now shown in the menu bar. iClipboard automatically keeps a history of everything a user copies to the system clipboard in any application. Apple invests $1 billion in China’s Didi Chuxing
Apple has invested $1 billion in Chinese ride-hailing service Didi Chuxing, a move that Apple CEO Tim Cook said would help the company better understand the critical Chinese market, according to “Reuters” (http://tinyurl.com/gm23k6u). He said in an interview that he saw opportunities for Apple and Didi Chuxing to collaborate in the future.
"We are making the investment for a number of strategic reasons, including a chance to learn more about certain segments of the China market," Cook told “Reuters.” "Of course, we believe it will deliver a strong return for our invested capital over time as well.”
Didi Chuxing, formerly known as Didi Kuaidi, said in a statement that this was the single largest investment it has ever received. The company, which previously raised several billion dollars, dominates the ride-sharing market in China. The company said it completes more than 11 million rides a day, with more than 87% of the market for private car-hailing in China.
Stahl Labs releases new AI voice assistant for Mac OS X
Stahl Labs AB (http://stahltechnologies.com) has introduced Awa, a new AI voice assistant for Mac OS X. It’s designed to help you perform tasks like searching the web, opening apps and creating todos as well as more complex tasks using only your voice.
According to the folks at Stahl Labs, it’s like Apple’s Siri but for your Mac. Awa is based on a fully automated speech recognition and artificial intelligence engine that analyzes voice input in milliseconds, the company says.
