PopChar for OS X adds support for Unicode 9.0
Ergonis Software has announced PopChar X 7.6, an improved version of the tool for finding and inserting special characters and exploring fonts.
With PopChar, thousands of special characters are only a few clicks away. Version 7.6 .6 supports Unicode 9.0, the most recent major update to the Unicode Standard. Unicode 9.0 adds 7,500 characters, for a total of 128,172 characters. PopChar X 7.6 also adds further improvements and enhancements and improves overall stability and compatibility with third-party applications like MS Word.
The software requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later. It can be purchased on the Ergonis Software website (www.ergonis.com) for US$29.99 for new users. The upgrade to PopChar X 7.3 is free for anyone who owns a license for PopChar X 7 or purchased a license for PopChar X 6 on or after March 1, 2014. Sound Control is new sound volume mixer for the Mac
Static Z Software has released Sound Control, a sound volume mixer for the Mac. It enables users to quickly change app volumes, as well as selectively apply a system-wide EQ to app audio.
Sound Control does this by adding a software mixer to the menu bar of your Mac. In addition to the volume mixer, Sound Control also adds a software EQ to your audio output allowing you to tailor the sound of your Mac's audio to their specific taste or to properly calibrate to the frequency response of their speakers.

App Wrapper 3.6 for OS X updates legacy frameworks
Ohanaware has released App Wrapper 3.6, an update to their App Store preparation tool. It was designed to simplify the process of preparing applications for submission to the Mac App Store and deploying on web sites.
Once configured App Wrapper can perform the following actions either at the click of a button or when an application is built within the Xojo development environment. Version 3.6 updates many legacy frameworks within the app.

Apple releases OS X 10.11.6, iOS 9.3.3, tvOS 9.2.2, watchOS 2.2.2
Apple has released finished (that is, non-beta) versions of OS X 10.11.6, iOS 9.3.3, tvOS 9.2.2, and watchOS 2.2.2. All are basically maintenance releases with bug fixes and performance tweaks.
You can grab OS X 10.11.6 at the Updates section of the Mac App Store. iOS 9.3.3 can be downloaded as an over-the-air update or via iTunes. watchOS 2.2.2 can be downloaded and installed through the Apple Watch app on an iPhone. tvOS can be downloaded through the System section of the Settings app on an Apple TV.
New macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS betas available for developers
Apple has released a plethora of new betas to developers for testing purposes. They include new betas of macOS Sierra, iOS 10, watchOS 3, and tvOS 10. They can downloaded from the Apple Developer Center.
Members of the public can also get in on the beta testing fun via Apple’s public beta program. Finished versions of macOS Sierra, iOS 10, watchOS 3, and tvOS 10 are slated for release this fall.

US Ignite forms Advanced Wireless Industry Consortium
US Ignite, a non-profit organization “that fosters the creation of next-generation Internet applications that provide transformative public benefit,” has announced a new advanced wireless industry consortium (advancedwireless.org) to support the Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research (PAWR) program.
This partnership has been created to advance development of next generation wireless technologies and services, according to William Wallace, executive director of US Ignite. The program has the potential to result in up to 1000x improvement in throughput over current wireless networks, he adds.
This new consortium comes at a time when the federal government is also working to advance research and clear hurdles to advanced wireless technologies. Participating in the announcement of the consortium are: The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the National Science Foundation, and the Federal Communications Commission, DARPA, NTIA, and NIST.

IEC formally adopts USB Type-C
The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) and USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) has formally adopted the latest USB-IF specifications for high-speed data delivery and enhanced usages for device charging. In particular, the USB Type-C Cable and Connector, USB Power Delivery and USB 3.1 (SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps) specifications. These specifications define a truly single-cable solution for audio/video, data and power delivery.
These standards are expected to advance global action on reducing e-waste and improving re-usability of power supplies with a range of electronic devices, said Frans Vreeswijk, General Secretary and CEO of the IEC. Eltima has released CloudMounter for Mac OS X (http://tinyurl.com/h7zn3uy). It allows you to mount different cloud storages and web servers to your Mac as local disks. You can connect to Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Amazon S3, Dropbox, FTP and WebDAV servers in Finder, as if they are located on your machine.
The main window of CloudMounter is basically a connections manager with corresponding buttons for each supported service and protocol. Just choose what you want to connect, enter your login credentials and enjoy managing your online files on a mounted drive in the Finder.
CloudMounter doesn’t store your login details. Access to cloud services is performed through their developers' API [application programming interface], and FTP\WebDAV passwords are securely kept in Mac OS X Keychain and sent directly to the servers via SSL-encrypted channels, according to the folks at Eltima.

The Novi Portable Charging Station consists of the Novi Dock and portable Novi Pods. Malware infections drop dramatically in the first half of 2016
Malware infections in the United States have dropped 47.3% in the first six months of 2016, according to data released today by Enigma Software Group (www.enigmasoftware.com). However, Enigma warns that computer users should not be lulled into complacency.
The experts at Enigma analyzed infection reports generated by all of the computers in the U.S. that have Enigma's SpyHunter installed and running on them. Looking at more than 30 million infections in the last 18 months, Enigma found that the average number of monthly infections in the first six months of 2016 was 47.3% lower than the average number of monthly infections from all of 2015. In fact, June 2016 had the lowest number of overall infections of any month dating back to April 2013.

Troi Automatisering has released Troi Encryptor Plug-in 3.5 for FileMaker Pro 15. It’s an update of the tool for securing your FileMaker data, exporting or emailing your data without risk and importing safely back into FileMaker. Version 3.5 is compatible with FileMaker Pro 16.
A fully functional demo version is available for downloading at Troi's website (http://tinyurl.com/z2heuv3). Troi Encryptor Plug-in 3.5 works with FileMaker Pro 12 to 15. The plug-in can also be used with runtimes created by FileMaker Advanced 12 to 15. The plug-in is available for OS X 10.6.8 or higher and Windows 7 to 10.
Licenses cost $79 per user. Details on developer licenses and multi-user discounts can be found on the Troi website. Troi Encryptor Plug-in 3.5 also works with FileMaker Server 12 to 15 as a server-side plug-in and as a plug-in used by the web publishing engine and WebDirect. To use this, you need to purchase a special cross-platform server/web license for $399.

National Organ Donor registration comes to the iPhone
Apple and Donate Life America have announced that, for the first time ever, iPhone users will be able to sign up to be an organ, eye and tissue donor right from the Health app with the release of iOS 10 this fall.
Through a simple sign-up process, iPhone users can learn more and take action with just a few taps. All registrations submitted from iPhone are sent directly to the National Donate Life Registry managed by Donate Life America.

AKVIS releases the Spain Frame Pack

Funter for OS X revved to version 2.0
Nektony has announced Funter 2.0, a tool designed specifically to hide and view hidden files and folders on Mac. It provides the ability to switch a file or folder's visibility in two clicks, making them hidden or unhidden.
Funter searches for files in system folders and package contents, even where Spotlight never looks for. Mac users can find, move and delete any file, including system and browser caches.

Tension Software updates Menu Calendar for OS X to version 1.1
Tension Software (www.tensionsoftware.com) has updated Menu Calendar for OS X to version 1.1. The app makes available under the menu bar, in any Mac app you’re running, a small calendar.
Clicking Menu Calendar’s icon not only shows a small standard calendar that you can use to navigate inside any month, it also makes available a small area under the calendar for date calculation. You can add (or subtract) days, months, years and the tool will instantly show the resulting day. You can also optionally select from the menu to have it launch when you log in.

Cirrus Logic releases MFi Headset Development Kit
Cirrus Logic has released its MFi Headset Development Kit, a reference platform that is designed to help original equipment manufacturers quickly develop new Lightning-based digital headsets. It provides a complete high-performance, digital-headset solution and a reference iOS application to support the rapid development of these emerging consumer products, according to Carl Alberty, vice president of Audio Products Marketing, Cirrus Logic.
“The MFi Headset Development Kit demonstrates the advantages of Lightning-connected headsets over conventional analog headsets,” he adds. “For example, digital connectivity with an integrated, high-performance DAC and headphone driver delivers high-fidelity audio to the headphone speakers. Ergonis Software (www.ergonis.com) has rolled out KeyCue 8.1, an update of their keyboard shortcut cheat sheet. The upgrade integrates with Typinator, and allows Typinator users to quickly show snippets in a head-up display and insert them with a click.
KeyCue 8.1 requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later. The upgrade is free for anyone who purchased a license for KeyCue 7 on or after March 1, 2015. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses. For new users the cost is $19.99 for a single user license and $29.95 for a family pack.
Tension Software introduces String Replacer 1.3.2 for Mac OS X
