For Immediate Release
June 12, 2000
SCOTTS VALLEY, CALIF. -- Stone Table Software is pleased to announce the
release of Z-Write 1.1 for Macintosh, a free update to its revolutionary
writing tool for creative writers and researchers.
In addition to bugs fixes, Z-Write 1.1 offers dozens of significant new
features and enhancements.
New is the ability to include hypertextual links between Sections, a method
for inserting one Section into another during export or printing,
auto-expansion of glossary items, more keyboard navigational commands, the
ability to hide the Section List for an expanded typing area, an import
folder command which translates an entire folder of text files into a
single Z-Write document, new text conversion features, and more preference
settings.
Many existing features of Z-Write have been enhanced, such as the revamped
Rearrange Sections dialog, which now allows users to move more than one
Section at a time, and HTML Export, which is now five times faster, offers
support for type sizes, and automatically generates "hot" links from URLs
and e-mail addresses within documents.
Z-Write 1.1 is a free update for all existing users and may be downloaded
from the Stone Table Software website at
(http://www.designwrite.com/sts/z-write.html).
* About Z-Write *
Z-Write is the world's first non-linear word processor. Instead of the
nightmare of managing hundreds of separate word processing files of notes,
ideas, chapters, revisions, character bios, bibliography information,
quotations, website locations, etc., Z-Write allows the writer to store
unlimited documents in a single file!
With support for unlimited Sections of information, Z-Write makes finding
and organizing the disparate snippets of text associated with large writing
projects a snap. Users are free to organize information any way they want.
Move, combine, and print out just the Sections needed. Manage multiple
versions of chapters, export a completed book as linked HTML files or Rich
Text Format, even view multiple Sections at the same time.
Unlike a personal information manager (PIM), Z-Write is real word
processor, designed for handling huge novels and complicated research
projects. Unlike "idea managers," Z-Write knows that ultimately your
Sections need to be combined to create a uniform piece of writing.
Z-Write eschews the bloat of many of today's word processors, offering
simplicity and elegance. Streamlined for writing, it stays out of your way
so you can actually get work done.

* What Users Are Saying *
From my dabblings in fiction, to outlining my next computer
book or magazine article, Z-Write will help me better organize
and present my material in an environment that works the way
I do. Tools like this make it easier for the writer to put
words to page, and after all, that's what it's all about.
And the $20 price tag can't be beat -- more than fair for
such a swift, speedy, and powerful application.

Great Job! This is the coolest piece of software I
have ever downloaded off the web!
--Joel David Berry
As a songwriter, I find this program incredibly useful as a
sort of song scrap notebook. It's so much easier than having
seperate files for every scrap. Thank you for Z-Write. At
20 bucks, it is the Bargain of the Universe.
-- Edward Rashed
This is a tool, not just for writers, but for graphic
designers as well. Organizing projects -- especially Flash
projects -- used to entail keeping a folder full of separate
documents dealing with copy, graphics, scope, and outlines of
projects. Of course this system being cumbersome and hard to
use meant that it often wasn't used at all. Now, Z-Write keeps
everything, all neat and tidy, right in one easy-to-backup
document. Too cool!
-- Chuck Dahmer
Where have you been all my life! I can't tell you how much
my work has been set back by exactly the sort of text-
management problems you describe... particularly since fiction,
at least for me, comes from an extremely non-linear place.
This truly is a wonderful find.
-- Connie Spencer
I had been dissatisfied with the usual word processors which
did too much or were irritating and didn't aid the flow of
how I write. Z-Write is excellent, really. It makes my
writing process so much easier. I haven't used any other word
processor since.
-- Scott Flock
It's a great concept and most definitely fills an empty space
in my world. Most other similar projects aim to be the one and
only text-editor you'll ever need, and it seldom works. Z-Write
feels like sublime simplicity in comparison to big, nasty Word.
Write in Z-Write, edit in Word, it makes sense!
-- Niklas Dahlin
I am writing my dissertation, a work of three years, and I
have so much data to organize. Your way of organizing a word
processor brilliantly suits the demands of such a project
and will be a fantastic help.
-- Alexander Koslowski
I especially like the clean, uncluttered interface and the
provision of the right features but not too many of them.
-- Ian Greig
