Widget Machine Launches as Virtual Vending Machine for Widgets

RIDGEFIELD, Connecticut, June 13th, 2005 - The Widget Machine
(http://www.widgetmachine.com/) was launched today as the Macintosh
community's first web store dedicated to Dashboard widgets - mini
applications featured in Apple's Mac OS X Tiger.

According to founder Phillip Ryu, "a lot of hard work was put into creating
a website that was as visually exciting and as easy to use as our widgets".
The resulting Widget Machine is unlike any other web store, featuring an
innovative and whimsical design by IconFactory artist David Lanham who
based it on the concept of a vending machine. Widgets can be demoed then
purchased using the popular online transaction service, PayPal, and serial
numbers are delivered instantly.

As of launch, the Widget Machine features two shareware widgets. VoiceNotes
allows users to record, store, and playback voice notes, and is offered at
an introductory price of $5.95. Statosphere can display vital system
information including CPU and RAM usage on three easy to read dials, and
costs $4.95.

In addition, there are five free widgets available: Hot Off the Press,
which displays the latest headlines from the New York Times and allows
quick access to its most popular sections, an alternative iTunes remote
with a sleek and futuristic look, FlipClock, which displays the time in an
easy to read format and offers alarm clock functions as well as 8 different
skins, and a special edition of iClip lite developed in conjunction with
Inventive, with extra features, exclusively available at the Widget
Machine. In addition, for those who would like to keep up with the latest
from their Dashboard, miniMachine shows the latest widgets in a compact
form.

The Widget Machine plans to release new and updated widgets, both shareware
and freeware, every Wednesday. In addition, the store provides publishing,
programming, and design services for interested companies and widget
developers.
