Valentina 1.8.9 Adds Powerful Compression and Encryption
RELEASE ADDS BLOWFISH ENCRYPTION, ZIP COMPRESSION TO THE VALENTINA PLATFORM
August 22, 2001. Beaverton, Oregon. Paradigma Software, makers of the
Valentina line of database products announced the availability of Valentina
Technology Release 1.8.9, adding significant, new features to all products
in the product line.
Among the newest features are:
ZIP Compression of BLOB Objects. This feature allows BLOB objects to be
compressed using the popular ZIP format, saving up to three to fives times
of space, allowing a much greater amount of data to be stored on removable
media. ZIP compression all takes place on the fly, in RAM. Compressed
BLOB/Text can still be searched, even while compressed.
448 bit Blowfish Encryption. Valentina databases can now make use of one of
the most popular and powerful encryption methods available, Blowfish. A
Valentina developer can encrypt: one or more tables, one or more fields,
entire Valentina databases, or a Valentina database file (.vdb) with
database structure, so that other Valentina based programs cannot open it.
Valentina database solutions are available for Microsoft Visual C++,
Metrowerks CodeWarrior, Java, COM compatible products (Visual Basic,
Delphi, PowerBuilder), REAL Software's REALbasic, Macromedia Director,
Purity Software's WebSiphon and all XCMD compatible products, such as
MetaCard and Apple's HyperCard. A standalone Valentina application (VAPP)
allows rapid creation and set up of Valentina databases on Mac OS Classic
and Mac OS X systems. Valentina 1.8.9 benefits come as a free upgrade in
for each Valentina product from Paradigma Software.
