UPLOADit 1.0 for FileMaker

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

COMM-UNITY NETWORKING SYSTEMS RELEASES UPLOADit 1.0, A CROSS PLATFORM
FILEMAKER PLUG-IN.

Fort Worth, TX, March 22, 2004 -- Comm-Unity Networking Systems announces the
release of UPLOADit 1.0, for FileMaker 4.x and above (including FileMaker 7)
for both Macintosh and Windows Platforms. This is the initial release of the
plug-in.

UPLOADit is a FileMaker plug-in that allows you to upload files from your web
browser to a machine running FileMaker. This functionality is often requested
by web developers who need a way for users to submit files in addition to
their other information. In the past, this has always involved complicated
server side processes and additional web services, but now you can do it all
with just FileMaker and UPLOADit.

UPLOADit comes with several example solutions to show you how the plug-in
works. You can either use the UPLOADit example solutions as starting points,
or with just a little bit of FileMaker scripting knowledge and the complete
UPLOADit Documentation, you can easily integrate UPLOADit directly into your
existing solutions. One of the included example solutions shows you how to
upload any file from a web browser to your computer. Another example solution
shows how to upload images from your web browser, import them into your
database, and then display the images on your web page. A third example
solution shows how to upload resumes into dynamically created folders.

Included in the UPLOADit download is a FileMaker 7 Preview version and an
example database that shows how easy it is to upload images into container
fields in an Instant Web Publishing solution. With UPLOADit, you can allow
your web based users to insert images and files into the container fields
through Instant Web Publishing just as if they were using FileMaker 7 on
their computer.

"UPLOADit is just the tool I was looking for," says Chris Kubica, a custom
FileMaker-based application developer and author of the best-selling book,
The Book of FileMaker 6, "My client wanted a Web-based document management
system that was low cost and required little overhead as far as software and
server costs, and UPLOADit fit the bill. It allows us to keep costs down by
using FileMaker's Web Companion as the base Web/application server instead of
something bigger and costlier like Lasso and using the multi-threaded
UPLOADit (!) plug-in was quick and easy. I even learned a little about XML in
the process as this is one of the technologies that makes UPLOADit's 'magic'
happen. I highly recommend it to other developers building similar Web-based
systems."

Features of UPLOADit

- Define multiple realms for multiple solutions.
- Take advantage of the multi-threaded operation, which allows fast
multi-user uploads.
- Allows multiple file uploads from one web form.
- Pull in information about the file plus any other value from your web form
right into FileMaker.
- Change the URL for the response page dynamically.
- Block Single IP Addresses and Ranges of IP Addresses.
- Limit the size and number of the uploaded files.
- Password protect your file uploads.

Demonstration version available

A demonstration version of UPLOADit, along with Example Solutions and
Complete Documentation, is available from our web site listed below. The
UPLOADit download includes several example solutions to get you started,
including a FileMaker 7 version of the Image Import Example solution that
shows you how to allow an Instant Web Publishing user to insert files into
container fields through their web browser. Until you register your copy of
UPLOADit, it will show a splash screen every hour that it is used, and it
will temporarily redirect you to a demo web page before redirecting you to
the final result page when you upload a file. Once you register your copy,
the splash screen and the demo web page will no longer display.

Demonstration website available

A live demonstration website using the plug-in is available at
http://www.uploaditexample.com/ . The demonstration website is set up as a
guest book that allows you to enter in some information about yourself and
include a GIF or JPEG image to display next to your guest book entry. This
demonstration website is using a slightly modified version of the Image
Import Example solution available in the UPLOADit download.
