Trolltech Introduces Qt Script for Applications, (QSA) Version 1.0

Provides tightly integrated scripting interface for the multiplatform Qt
application framework

07, 02 2003--Oslo, Norway--Trolltech, a leader in multiplatform software
development tools, today announced that Qt applications are now scriptable
with the release of Qt Script for Applications (QSA). Leveraging the
powerful Qt API, QSA takes static Qt/C++ applications, and makes them
dynamic.

"QSA was designed to tightly integrate with Qt, ensuring that developers
don't have to worry about binding layers or subset functionality," said
Eirik Eng, Trolltech president. "All developers need to do is add a few
lines of code to their Qt applications, and then the apps are enabled for
scripting and extending."

QSA enables developers to: Prototype changes in already-compiled
applications; write test scripts; customize applications to individual
customer's business requirements; script-enable applications so that
power-users can write sophisticated macros; and provide script-based fixes
for previously released applications.

The QSA toolkit includes the following components: - QSA SDK, which allows
Qt developers to make their applications scriptable.

- Qt Script, an easy-to-learn, multiplatform interpreted scripting
language. Qt Script is based on the ECMAScript standard, as are Microsoft's
JScript and Netscape's JavaScript.

- QSA Workbench, a light-weight, simple to use scripting environment. QSA
Workbench provides the scripter with code formatting, syntax highlighting,
code completion and stack-trace output.

- Input Dialog Framework, a high-level GUI API that allows scripters to
write dialogs.

commercial use of QSA, Qt or any other Trolltech product, or see

Unix/Linux and Mac OS X.

About QSA:
Qt Script for Applications (QSA) is Trolltech's new scripting toolkit for
the Qt multiplatform C++ application framework. QSA enables developers to
make their static C++ application dynamic. Using QSA's standards-based
scripting language, Qt Script (similar to JavaScript), developers can
extend and customize their application.

About Qt:
Qt is a multiplatform, object-oriented, easily extensible C++ application
framework. Trolltech's flagship product, Qt is well known in the open
source world, and is a de facto standard on Linux. Qt supports Microsoft
Windows, Linux, all major Unix variants, Mac OS X and embedded Linux. Qt
includes Qt Designer, a rapid application development tool and Qt Linguist,
an internationalization tool.

About Trolltech
Trolltech is a software company with two flagship products: Qt and Qtopia.
Qt is a multi-platform C++ application framework developers can use to
write single-source applications that run -- natively -- on Windows, Linux,
Unix, Mac OS X and embedded Linux. Qt has been used to build thousands of
successful commercial applications worldwide, and is the basis of the open
source KDE desktop environment. Qtopia is the first comprehensive
application environment built for embedded Linux, and is used in Sharp's
new Zaurus line of PDAs. Trolltech is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, with
offices in Brisbane, Australia, and Palo Alto, California. More about
