Arlington Texas: Thursby Software Updates DAVE for Macintosh
Thursby Software Systems announced today the immediate availability of a
key update to their popular DAVE file and print share software. This
update, DAVE 3.1.1, adds outbound PostScript printer support for Mac OS X.
"This is a key feature that our customers look for in Mac to PC
integration. Prior to Mac OS X, our DAVE product has always included
outbound PostScript printer sharing. As Mac OS X matures, we plan to
continue our enhancements to DAVE," said William Thursby, President of
Thursby Software. "This update also includes enhancements for our OS
8.6-9.2 customers, as well as the addition of new OS X support for Clear
Text passwords and LMHOSTS files."
DAVE 3.1.1 is a free update for customers currently running DAVE 3.1. Those
using version 2.5 of DAVE may purchase an upgrade on the web site,
http://www.thursby.com, for $89.95. The single license U.S. retail price of
DAVE is $149.00. Greatly reduced pricing is available for volume and
educational users.
DAVE 3.1 was introduced last fall. Specifically designed to preserve the
essential Mac user experience, it allows Windows users to see and print to
Mac shared inkjet and PostScript printers in Mac OS X. Other features
include:
* Bidirectional file sharing between Windows PCs and Macintosh computers
* Large file support (greater than 2 GB) in OS 9 and OS 10.1.x
* Long file name support (more than 31 characters) in OS 9 and OS 10.1.x
* Network Logon for Microsoft Domain access
* Automatic workgroup detection
* Integrated help
* Use of Microsoft native protocols so no additional hardware or
software is needed for the PC
* Shares inkjet and PostScript printers
