Backups, Burns Archives To CD/DVD, And Makes Archives Faster Than Ever

Watsonville, CA, September 22, 2003 -- Aladdin Systems, Inc., an Aladdin
Systems Holdings, Inc., company (OTC BB: ALHI), today announced StuffIt
Deluxe 8.0, a new Mac OS X version of the industry-standard access and
compression utility. The new version allows users to schedule backups and
burn to CD/DVD with Archive Assistant(tm), adds plug-ins for Adobe's
Photoshop(r) and Illustrator(r) and makes archives faster than ever before.

StuffIt Deluxe is the complete solution, makes it easy to access, compress,
send, protect, and backup important information. Designed to work the way
you do, users can make archives with an easy drag-and-drop, or
Stuff-and-Mail, or right from Adobe and Microsoft programs. Data is
protected with StuffIt's powerful encryption, self-repairing archive
options, automatic backup, and CD/DVD burning. It's never been easier to
automate everyday tasks and access virtually any compressed file, download
or attachment.

New 8.0 Features and Benefits:
* Schedule backups automatically
* Burn archives to CD or DVD with Archive Assistant(tm)
* Plug-ins for Photoshop and Illustrator
* Archive Via Rename- expands or makes archives by adding or removing
.sit, .sitx, .zip, or .tgz to the file name
* Improved compression speed
* Now accesses .yenc and .cab files
* New user interface

Archive Assistant
New features in StuffIt Deluxe 8.0 allow users to schedule backups and burn
archives to CD or DVD without any additional software. StuffIt easily backs
up files, allowing users to select only the files they want to store,
schedule routine backups, restore data quickly and easily, and burn backup
archives onto CD or DVD. Archive Assistant automatically handles the task
of splitting large backup archives across multiple CDs, greatly reducing
the hassle involved in archiving large amounts of data. StuffIt's powerful
search-and-retrieve features let users access data whenever they need it.
With StuffIt Deluxe 8.0's archiving capabilities, users can protect
themselves against system crashes, theft, power outages, file corruption,
and other dangers that can wipe out important data. The backup archives
also ensure that users always have the files they need. StuffIt can pack
terabytes of data into one archive.

Plug-Ins
Now users get StuffIt integration with plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop and
Illustrator to allow users to open or create archives and Stuff and Mail.
StuffIt Deluxe also comes with a Microsoft Word plug-in.

Archive Via Rename
A popular Classic feature, Archive Via Rename (AVR) is now available for
Mac OS X. Easily compress a file or folder by adding the .sit, .sitx, .tgz,
or .zip extension to the file name. (Users can also create one-step
archives with StuffIt's MagicMenu and Contextual Menu capabilities.)

Faster Compression
StuffIt Deluxe 8.0 enables fast file transfers over the Internet to save
time. It compresses files up to 98% smaller so email attachments don't
bounce back when they exceed the size limits imposed by many email systems.
There's also a Drop Segment feature that allows users to compress a large
file in to smaller, more manageable, segments to send over email, post
online, or burn across multiple CD/DVDs. The smaller files created by
StuffIt Deluxe 8.0 save and regain disk space, maximize bandwidth, and
accelerate upload and download time.

New Formats
The software now supports .cab (a Windows archive format) and .yenc
(popular with newsgroups) and dozens of other popular compression and
encoding archive types.

"StuffIt simplifies data management with a suite of solutions that help
every day," said Aladdin Systems product manager Matthew Covington. "The
new personal backup utility gives users peace of mind, knowing their
information is safe and secure."

Safety and Security
The secure storage capabilities in StuffIt Deluxe 8.0 keep data safe with
encryption and error correction. The software offers strong 512-bit
encryption and password protection to protect privacy and keep sensitive
data away from prying eyes. Only the person with the password can access
the files.

StuffIt Deluxe 8.0's built-in data protection keeps data safe. Customers
can use StuffIt X options to add redundancy information to archives so they
can be rebuilt in case of transfer errors. StuffIt packages files and
folders into space-saving archives that reduce the chance of errors
occurring from bad media and provide self-repairing archives to prevent
data loss from corruption or transfer errors.

StuffIt Express Personal Edition(tm), included in StuffIt Deluxe 8.0, turns
26 steps into one. Users can set up a Drop Box application, and then
drag-and-drop their files and folders to it. The files can be compressed
and automatically sent to an email distribution list, uploaded to a
password-protected FTP site with email notification sent to the recipient,
or uploaded to a server to update a Web page.

Contextual Menu Access
Access data right from the finder using the contextual menu: expand files,
extract files from archives, Stuff-and-Mail, make archives, browse archive
contents. Browse and use archives just like regular folders. From the
Finder Context Menu, browse Zip and StuffIt archives.

Pricing
StuffIt Deluxe 8.0 is available for a suggested retail price of $79.99 from
retail, catalog, and online channels. Registered users of StuffIt Deluxe
and StuffIt Standard Edition can upgrade for $29.99 until March 31, 2004
direct from Aladdin or via a $50 mail-in rebate. StuffIt is also available
for the Windows(r), Macintosh(r), Linux, and Solaris(tm) platforms at
http://www.stuffit.com.

System Requirements
StuffIt Deluxe 8.0 requires Mac=AE OS X, 10.1.5, or higher (10.2 for
CD-burning and AVR), 64 MB available RAM, and 30 MB available disk space.
StuffIt Deluxe 7.0.3 is still available for users of Mac OS 8.6 to OS 9.2.
