SMITH MICRO SOFTWARE LAUNCHES NEW STUFFIT DELUXE WITH BREAKTHROUGH
COMPRESSION OF MP3 FILES, PDFs AND HIGH QUALITY IMAGES

StuffIt Deluxe 12 for Mac Features New Advances in Compression for Graphics
and Popular Office Document Files

Aliso Viejo, CA - October 10, 2007 - Smith Micro Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:
SMSI) Consumer and Compression Group today announced the launch of StuffIt
Deluxe 12.0, the latest update of its award winning Mac compression and
file management utility. Building on its heritage of developing
state-of-the-art file compression technology, Smith Micro's new version of
StuffIt includes an advanced new compression engine that makes the StuffIt
X file format more efficient than ever when compressing MP3 files, high
quality images, and most popular office document file types.

With audio files consuming more and more storage space, the new version of
StuffIt helps to solve the storage crunch by supporting the ability to
shrink a wide range of multi-media file types, including MP3 audio files,
without any reduction in audio quality. StuffIt Deluxe 12.0 now offers a
highly efficient 24-bit image compression engine that compresses full
quality images such as TIFF files, and is designed to compress Bitmap and
PNG formates without reducing image quality. The expanded images become
pixel perfect replicas of the original file.

StuffIt's new compression engine also includes optimised compression of
popular office document file types, including the new formats created by
Office 2007 and Apple's iWork office suite. Within the iWork office suite,
StuffIt Deluxe's compression engine can compress any image or sound clip
embedded within a Pages, Numbers, or KeyNote document.

In addition to compressing a wide range of file formats for data archiving,
StuffIt Deluxe allows users to schedule automatic file backups that are
burned to CDs and DVDs directly from the StuffIt Archive Manager
application. With StuffIt's new built-in compression, backups require fewer
disks and the software even re-compresses Zip archives that are encountered
during a backup.

"The introduction of so many new compression features makes this release
one of the most important upgrades in the long history of StuffIt," said
Matthew Covington, Director of Compression Solutions, Smith Micro Software.
"Building on the success of our unique JPEG compression technology, the
improvements made when compressing MP3, advanced graphic and popular office
doc ument files firmly cement StuffIt as the best compression solution
available on any platform."

Whether sending or receiving files, photos, or other information from a PC
or a Mac, StuffIt Deluxe 12.0 provides a complete solution for accessing,
organising and archiving data. New features include enhanced file
management capabilities for quality compression and expansion, faster and
easier data transfers, automatic file security and backups and seamless
integration.
