Rage Software Announces Macintosh Explorer 1.7

For Immediate Release

First Complete file browser and file management tool for the Mac

Toronto, Canada, November 14, 2000 - Rage Software announced today the
release of Macintosh Explorer 1.7. A major upgrade to the fully featured
file browser and file management tool for the Mac.

Macintosh Explorer allows easy manipulation of your files and folders and
helps you find your files and folders in a quick and easy environment.
Macintosh Explorer helps you easily cut, copy and paste files as well as
change extended info. You can also delete unused files, backup
files/folders, store favorites, preview files and much more.

New To This Version

This version includes many new features. The biggest improvement is the
speed increase. Macintosh Explorer is now up to 80% faster while listing
files and supports 32 bit icons. There are new style buttons which look
nicer, and require less memory. The notepad has been greatly improved and
now includes the ability to change font, style, colour, and size. It also
includes HTML syntax colouring and will automatically colour HTML files
when they are opened.

The delete files and delete unused files has been improved by not deleting
invisible files that are dragged into the windows when protect invisible
files is enabled.

The volume list now shows invisible files if hide invisible files is
disabled. Many minor interface changes have been made as well as an option
to use the standard platinum look or an Aqua look.

An all new security feature has been added to Macintosh Explorer. This
security feature is the first of its kind. It allows you to quit the Finder
so that the only way to access files is to use Macintosh Explorer. It also
allows you to protect all files so that the only thing that can be done is
open files. The preferences also allows you to specify a password that must
be entered to change the preferences. The file which stores the password
for Macintosh Explorer can not be opened using Macintosh Explorer so the
password can never be viewed.

There have been many more features and improvements as well as bug fixes
which can be viewed in the read me included in the download.
