Proxim Unveils New NetLINE Wireless Broadband Gateway
An Easy-To-Use Internet Sharing Solution for Macs and PCs

SkyLINE PCI Card for Schools and Businesses Now Available

MacWorld, San Francisco, Calif., January 8, 2000 The Consumer Networks

Business Unit (formerly Farallon) of Proxim, Inc. (Nasdaq: PROX), today
unveiled its new Farallon NetLINE Wireless Broadband Gateway, a
plug-and-play gateway that allows schools and businesses to create networks
that simultaneously support Macs and PCs over wired and wireless
connections and share a single Internet connection. Proxim also announced
that its Farallon SkyLINE PCI Card is now shipping.

Beyond enabling both a wired and wireless network, the NetLINE Wireless
Broadband Gateway allows users on local area networks to share a single
cable or DSL modem Internet connection without having to obtain extra IP
addresses. The Gateway also features a built-in firewall and configurable
protection features, so that networks with always-on Internet connections
are safe from unwanted intrusions. In addition, the gateway features DHCP
support and Web-based management for easy setup of both the broadband
connection and the local network.

"The NetLINE Wireless Broadband Gateway, in combination with the SkyLINE PC
Card and new PCI Card, give our small business and education customers
maximum flexibility to choose the right wireless solution for their
environment," said Ken Haase, director of marketing for the Consumer
Business Unit at Proxim. "This is an important part of Proxims
overall aimto give our customers the full range of networking possibilities."

The SkyLINE PCI Card, which serves as a carrier for the PC card, offers
non-AirPort capable desktop Macs, such as first-generation Power Mac G4s,
all Power Mac G3s and most previous PCI-based Power Macs, the ability to
connect to a wireless network, allowing networks in buildings where it is
expensive or impractical to wire.

The NetLINE Wireless Broadband Gateway and the SkyLINE PCI Card are both
802.11b-compatible, allowing them to work together and with Proxim 802.11b
wirefree products, the Apple AirPort Base Station and others. Please visit
the Proxim booth (#2217), January 9-12, 2001, at MacWorld for a
demonstration of the NetLINE Wireless Broadband Gateway and the SkyLINE PCI
Card.

Pricing and Availability
The SkyLINE PCI Card, together with the SkyLINE PC Card, is available for
an estimated street price of $239. The PCI Card alone is available to
international distributors for bundling with country-specific PC Cards, and
to consumers who have already purchased a PC Card, for an estimated street
price of U.S. $69. The NetLINE Wirelesss Gateway will be available later
this month for an estimated street price of $399.
