ProVUE Releases Major New Version of Panorama

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Huntington Beach, California - July 9th, 2001 - ProVUE Development
announces the
release of Panorama 4.0, introduced today. The new RAM-based database
processor, available for the first time for Windows PC systems, is more
than 100,000 times faster than traditional disk-based systems for many
critical operations.

Instead of using the relatively slow hard drive, Panorama operates on
data directly in the computer's high speed RAM. By eliminating the
bottleneck of the mechanical components in a hard drive, Panorama
accelerates every operation, including sorting, searching, summarizing,
importing, data manipulation and changes to database structure. Typical
current system configurations allow all but the very largest database
applications to be handled using RAM memory. A typical 32 megabyte RAM
allocation, for example, allows a mailing list with over one-half
million names and addresses.

""""""""Most database software still relies heavily on magnetic disk technology
first introduced with mainframes in the 1960's"""""""" says James Rea,
president of ProVUE Development. """"""""It's as if the last two decades of
Moore's law didn't apply to database applications. With Panorama,
database users can take full advantage of the productivity gains made
possible by today's 1Ghz+ processors and memory, saving both time and
money.""""""""

Key Product Features:
- Super fast RAM based searching, sorting, and data manipulation.
- Crosstabs and data outlines.
- Fully relational.
- Full suite of graphic tools including buttons, menus, images, movies,
and elastic forms.
- Bar, line, area, pie and scatter charts.
- Complete programming language, interface builder and development
tools.
- High speed import/export.
- Extensive documentation, samples, and over 3 hours of video included
on the CD.
- Seamless cross platform operation allows databases to be developed and
deployed on both PC (Windows) and Macintosh systems.

Panorama was first introduced on the Macintosh in 1988 and has nearly
one hundred thousand users on that platform. For detailed information
about the changes between Panorama 3.1 (Mac only) and Panorama 4.0 see:

Comments from Panorama 4 beta testers:

I consider my acquisition of Panorama perhaps the best decision
I ever made in this job. Your database program has served us so
well that I have sung its praises to anyone who will listen.
It is almost solely responsible for a 33% reduction in staffing
in our office, saving us tens of thousands of dollars per year.

-- Brian Keeling, Cornell University

I couldn't recommend Panorama more highly. This is a rock-solid
database, extremely capable, with a full-featured, mature
programming language. RAM resident and FAST, FAST, FAST ...
and with memory capacities these days, you can run some huge
databases!

-- Danny Grizzle, Media Mogul New Media Productions

Once again ProVUE has taken the fastest, most full featured
database available and made it even more powerful. Panorama 4 has
more features, more wizards, more training, more tools. Everyday
I discover something new and enabling. I have yet to find a
programming challenge that can't be accomplished using Panorama.

-- Jeff Kozuch, Acacia Systems

Panorama 4 has given our application a 300% speed increase over
Panorama 3.1. And ProVUE has added many more useful programming
functions just when you thought there couldn't be any more.
Panorama is an absolute pleasure to work with and its blinding
speed has spoiled me immensely.

-- Glenn Kowalski, Studio 405

I can continue to make my Microsoft Access program work, but I'm
ready to abandon it. Panorama 4's splendid documentation and
sample files really help.

-- James McAlister, Arkansas Power & Light

Panorama 4.0 has made our ability to build cross-platform
databases an absolute breeze.

-- James Cook, Hindsight Ltd.

This program is so damned amazing!

-- Michael Myers, Hoffmann-La Roche (Genomic & Information
Sciences)

I have once again realized what a joy it is to work with
Panorama. I really appreciate the ease with which I can examine
field names, variables and procedure code. I have all but finished
my Panorama project. The FileMaker project I started at the same
time is still in the document and explain phase.

-- Eric Bolden, University of Wisconsin Biostatistics Dept.

In the 17th and 18th century Estonia was part of the Swedish empire.
As an old imperialist, I felt the urge to come back there when the
Soviet Union went to dust in 1991, and we have since started several
mutual research programs there. We are basing our Estonian diabetes
study very much on the use of Panorama (and we very much dislike
FileMaker Pro). I would say that through the years Panorama and
Photoshop have been our crucial programs.

-- Olle Holm, Lund University, Sweden

Panorama is far and away my favorite database. It has a built-in
programming language which blows away FM Pro Scriptmaker, and
Panorama databases are lightning-fast.

-- Gary Chapman, University of Texas (LBJ School of Public
Affairs)
