Perforce Software Releases Update to its Fast Software Configuration
Management System

Steady product evolution is a hallmark of Perforce SCM

ALAMEDA, Calif., July 10, 2006 - Perforce Software today announced the
availability of the newest release of Perforce, the Fast Software
Configuration Management (SCM) System. Perforce tracks and manages the
changes made to source code, documents, and digital assets in software and
game development environments.

Release 2006.1 of Perforce includes targeted enhancements to the Perforce
Server, as well as updates to the user interface and support for a wider
range of IDEs.

"At Perforce we believe in product evolution, not revolution," explained
Christopher Seiwald, president and CTO of Perforce Software. "As our
typical customer has grown from hundreds to thousands of users, we've kept
pace with performance enhancements to the server, and we continue to
improve the visual appeal of our client software in order to better enable
developers to exploit the power of the server."

Specific enhancements in Perforce 2006.1 include:

New audit trail feature: The Perforce Server can now log individual file
access to produce an audit trail, which is helpful to companies struggling
to comply with regulations surrounding Sarbanes-Oxley. When auditing is
enabled, a log record is created every time a file is accessed on the
server, enabling Perforce administrators to answer questions such as,
"Which of my users have accessed this file recently, and what other files
are they working with?"

Improved file merging: Perforce's Inter-File Branching and merging model is
key to successful parallel development. In this release, the branching and
merging logic has been streamlined, resulting in a faster integrate=92
command and better merge base selection.

RSS 2.0 support in P4Web: The Perforce Web Client (P4Web) now includes RSS
functionality, which enables users to track jobs and changelists by
subscribing to RSS feeds from within P4Web.

Support for Microsoft Visual Studio 8.0: Perforce now supports Microsoft
Visual Studio 8.0 through its plug-in support for the Microsoft SCC API.
The latest version of the plug-in features advanced file checkout where
users can now change filetypes and select changelists from within the
plug-in.
