1. RADstudio 1.0 SHIPS - POWERFUL CROSS-PLATFORM DEPLOYMENT

FRANCESTOWN, NEW HAMPSHIRE March 7, 2000 OpenBase International, Ltd.
ships RADstudio, a database development environment for building
cross-platform applications. Featuring a powerful drag & drop interface and
4GL, RADstudio offers the power to build scalable database applications in
a fraction of the time it takes with other products. Programs built with
RADstudio can be deployed on MacOS 8/9/X, Windows, Solaris, Linux and other
operating systems that support Java.

"OpenBase RADstudio allows mere mortals to exploit the power of relational
databases," says Scott Keith, Director of Software Engineering, "It has a
unique method for organizing database screens so users can get more
specific information without being lost."

OpenBase RADstudio empowers people who understand business processes but
have little time for software implementation. It makes the process of
building database applications easy through intuitive tools which unlock
the power of relational databases. No programming required.

POWERFUL SQL DATABASE ENGINE INCLUDED

OpenBase RADstudio comes standard with OpenBase SQL database, a
high-performance data storage and retrieval engine for demanding multi-user
applications. It is an ideal SQL-standard database choice for organizations
who want a future-safe environment that lets them take advantage of the
latest object technologies and web tools.

While OpenBase RADstudio currently supports OpenBase SQL, we will also be
supporting Oracle, Sybase and other databases that support JDBC.

FLEXIBLE 4GL FOR DATABASES

While you can build full-featured database applications without writing
code, RADstudio provides a powerful 4GL in case you would like to do
something special. OpenScript 4GL offers a simple way to define business
and interface logic through an event-driven interface. It also supports
nested database queries and full transaction commit/rollback. OpenScript is
very easy to learn and is similar to other languages such as AppleScript,
4D, Basic and Hypercard.

CENTRAL DEPLOYMENT -- POWERFUL RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT

RADbrowser and JRADbrowser (100% Java) runtime applications read RADstudio
applications from the database and run them on your desktop. JRADbrowser is
also available as an applet so it can be launched from a web page. Since
RADstudio applications are stored centrally in a database, users always
launch the correct version.

SUPPORTED PLATFORMS

RADstudio Development: MacOS X Server, MacOS X DP3 and Windows NT.
RADbrowser Runtime: MacOS X Server, MacOS X DP3 and Windows NT.
JRADbrowser Runtime: MacOS 8/9, MacOS X, Windows, Linux, Solaris.

object that offers better performance when searching ranges. The OpenBase
server also has a number of performance enhancements. For a complete list
of changes please see the OpenBase 6.0.9 release notes.
