MDG Ships WS4D/eCommerce 3.1 - adds SSL and Inventory Tracking

Bartlett, IL July 21, 1999 -- MDG Computer Services, Inc, a leading
developer of web and eCommerce tools for Macintosh and Windows,
announced today that it would ship version 3.1 of WS4D/eCommerce, its
a single application that includes a full featured web server,
shopping carts, storefronts, credit authorization, virtual domains,
and database publishing. The new version adds inventory tracking
within eCommerce and SSL for MacOS. SSL Support for Windows is
currently under development.

The most significant addition in WS4D/eCommerce 3.1 is support for
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL is available as an option for anyone
running WS4D/eCommerce 3.1 or Web Server 4D 3.1. Since every site
does not require SSL, SSL will be sold as an option. That way, the
price of WS4D/eCommerce and Web Server 4D will remain very
attractive. SSL Support will be built into every copy of
WS4D/eCommerce 3.1 and Web Server 4D 3.1.

In addition to SSL, WS4D/eCommerce 3.1 has a number of other improvements.

Based on user feedback, WS4D/eCommerce 3.1 now includes inventory
tracking. With inventory tracking, each product can have a beginning
inventory level and each time an item is sold, the inventory level
will be reduced. Once an item is out of stock, options are available,
to automatically hide the item. If your business does not allow back
orders, this will allow people browsing your storefront to only
purchase items that you have in stock.

A flexible Status Icon can be listed next to each item. An icon can
show items that are in stock, out of stock, pre-order, on sale, new
or discounted. Each of the icons can be changed or own can be added.
One option, is to have the Status icon automatically change when an
item becomes out of stock.
