INFOTONIC ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR WEBHOST QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM TO LAUNCH

Guaranteed! by ISPcheck to help consumers choose by offering unbiased,
third-party evaluations
Washington, D.C., November 4, 1998 - Infotonic, publishers of the ISPcheck
(www.ispcheck.com) Internet Service Provider search engine, announced today
plans to launch a Webhost quality assurance program which will offer
assistance to individuals and businesses faced with the task of selecting a
trustworthy service provider. Unlike certification programs offered by
industry associations, ISPcheck's Guaranteed! Program will have no
affiliation with any Webhosting company. Infotonic will underwrite the
program's evaluation process as an unbiased, independent third party.
"Guaranteed! is a natural extension to ISPcheck," said Isabel Wang,
co-founder of Infotonic. "ISPcheck expedites consumers' Webhost search and
Guaranteed! will take this service a step further by eliminating much of
the guesswork and hassles associated with determining any given provider's
credibility."
The Guaranteed! Program will be integrated with ISPcheck, the Web's most
popular research tool for Internet services. ISPcheck currently allows its
4,500 daily visitors to search an extensive database of more than 12,000
service plans offered by 3,500 Webhosting and Internet access providers. A
Guaranteed! filter will be added to ISPcheck's search interface, enabling
visitors to limit searches to Guaranteed! hosts meeting their
specifications.
ISPcheck Guaranteed! Evaluation Process
In order to become an ISPcheck Guaranteed! Webhost, a provider must undergo
an evaluation process which verifies the company's experience, connectivity
and good standing with its vendors and client base. Additionally,
Guaranteed! providers are continuously evaluated in terms of their service
quality and business practices.
"The Guaranteed! status is not a permanent designation conferred on the
basis of technical capabilities," according to Dmitri Eroshenko, co-founder
of Infotonic. "Webhosting is a service business - a company is only as good
as the experience it delivers to each individual consumer at any point of
time. Our goal is not to create an extensive network of "certified"
Webhosts but to help consumers single out a few good companies which we're
certain will live up to their promises."
