Troi Automatisering releases Troi Serial Plug-in 1.0 for FileMaker Pro

Automatisering today announced the release of Troi Serial Plug-in
1.0, for FileMaker Pro 4.0 (or later) on both on Mac OS and Windows.

This plug-in gives FileMaker Pro easy and powerful access to one (or
more) of the computer's serial ports and works completely cross
platform. The plug-in can read from and write to the serial ports of
the computer directly from FileMaker without the need of a separate
application.

Peter Baanen, company president, states that "Based on user feedback
we've included an extra Caller ID example database and a brand new
ToASCII function. This makes starting with the plug-in even easier".

Suggested Use

Suggested uses for this plug-in are connecting to a modem, custom
switchboard dialing, caller ID, credit card swiping, controlling
external devices, data acquisition and data transfer.

Key features of the Serial Plug-in

- Support for high speed connections up to 230 kbps.
- Unlimited number of serial ports can be opened.
- Buffering of data up to 64k per port.
- Dispatch Scripting(tm) can trigger a script for data entry into database.
- Clear sample databases and a user manual to get started quickly.

Changes and new features in this version

- Added ToASCII function, which takes one or more numbers and converts
them to their equivalent ASCII characters.
- Added a database demonstrating Caller ID.
- Added a database of error codes for identifying possible error codes
returned from the operating system.
- Fixed a bug on Mac OS machines, which caused parameters to parse
incorrectly. For example settings parameters like "-baud=1200" would not to
be interpreted right, causing the plug-in to default to 9600 baud.

The plug-in works with all types of serial ports including those
added through an extension card. This plug-in runs on any machine
that is able to run FileMaker Pro 4.0 or later. You can also license

version.
