[NPL] SPEEDLAN 10 Mbps Wireless Bridge -- Lower Cost

SPEEDLAN 10 MBPS WIRELESS BRIDGE
SAME RELIABILITY, LOWER COST

Sarasota, FL, USA; February 17, 1999 -- Wave Wireless Networking,
wireless Internet division of SPEEDCOM International, announced that
it has lowered the price for their SPEEDLAN 10 wireless, multi-port,
multi-point bridge/router to $8900. The award-winning SPEEDLAN 10
bridge/routers are ideal for Internet communications, education,
health care or any multi-location applications and perform at full 10
Mbps Ethernet LAN speeds.

SPEEDLAN 10 is a transparent, MAC layer, self-learning wireless
bridge with IP routing capability that can connect two or more
Ethernet LANs. The bridge/router may pass all Ethernet like protocols
including IP, IPX, Appletalk. SPEEDLAN 10 bridge/routers use
unlicensed spread spectrum technology and can be configured to have
multiple wireless LAN ports to meet varied multi-point configuration,
performance and budget requirements.

As a multi-port bridge/IP router, SPEEDLAN 10 reduces the cost of
connectivity because a single multi-port unit can provide a dedicated
communications link to three separate satellite locations, making it
an ideal solution for high-performance, long distance connections.
Each radio within a SPEEDLAN 10 may also be used as a shared,
point-to-multi-point Base Station for up to 16 wireless locations
forming a wireless Metropolitan Area Network. It is the fastest, most
flexible multi-point system available today.

SPEEDLAN 10 bridge/router software provides a special wireless
reliability protocol, SNMP management, which allows for wireless and
wired link management. To further enhance the security inherent to
spread spectrum technology, for sensitive applications in markets
like banking and health care, SPEEDLAN products may be configured
with optional DES encryption. All product offerings from Wave
Wireless Networking include standard installation kits containing an
antenna assembly, low-loss antenna cabling and lightning arrestors.

SPEEDLAN 10 may be combined with other Wave products including
SPEEDLAN ISP and E1/T1 full-duplex wireless modems to provide
complete wireless metropolitan area networks. Wave Wireless products
can provide ISPs with strategic solutions for creating rapid growth
and market share in their markets and wireless telecommunications
equipment provides "last mile" connectivity between the Internet
Service Provider or the Local Exchange Company (LEC) and their
business customers.

Wave Wireless Networking is a five-year-old multi-national company
that manufactures and markets high performance wireless
internetworking products, specializing in multi-point connectivity
for Internet Service Providers.
These products allow ISPs to offer high-speed, wireless Internet access.
