SoftPress Systems ships Freeway 2.0

Major upgrade to Web design package incorporates over a hundred
new features and starter pack of fifteen ready-to-use Actions

Oxford, England --- November 6th 1998 --- SoftPress Systems today announced
first customer shipments of Freeway 2.0, a major upgrade to their
award-winning Web design software for the Apple Macintosh. Freeway has been
designed to meet the needs of graphic designers who want an intuitive but
powerful tool which gives them the ability to design Web sites without the
need to master HTML. Until December 31st Freeway 2.0 is available at the
special introductory price of $199. From January 1st 1999 the recommended
retail price will be $299. Registered Freeway customers qualify for a
free-of-charge on-line upgrade to Freeway 2.0. A 30-day trial version of
Freeway 2.0 is available from the SoftPress Web site.

"Without the features in Freeway 2.0, our Web site would have received the
same "there's not enough time to update it" treatment we've always given
it," said Mark Kawakami of Chapman University, California. "But thanks to
new features like Freeway Actions and the extremely versatile table tool,
we're able to not only update our site, but create advanced database
integration features entirely within Freeway, and in less time than we
thought possible".

"We have been very pleased with the response to Freeway," commented
SoftPress Managing Director, Richard Logan. "Over 20,000 people have now
downloaded the trial version and we continually have designers contacting
us to express their amazement and delight at how quickly they can produce
new Web sites."

Freeway 2.0 extends the popular DTP-style user interface to make Web design
with fourth-generation technologies accessible to designers new to the Web
medium. It incorporates over 100 new features and enhancements which
include a simple but powerful Actions technology, HTML 4.0 layout,
Cascading Style Sheets, frames, tables, FTP upload and the ability to
import Web sites produced in other applications.

STARTER PACK FOR ACTIONS TECHNOLOGY
SoftPress Systems' new Actions technology helps designers create and manage
dynamic, interactive Web content and simplifies the integration of complex
scripting and back-end functionality into their Web sites. Actions make the
process of designing highly functional Web sites more modular and well
managed - with graphic designers able to focus on the design process and
programmers concentrating on the technically more complex aspects of
scripting and custom HTML coding. Applications of Actions include database
connectivity, integration with e-commerce solutions and dynamic HTML
behaviors.

Actions are produced independently of the Web design process using
scripting and an XML-like language. Graphic designers can select and use
Actions from a growing library or they can create their own Actions.
Freeway 2.0 is supplied with a starter pack of Actions which provides
fifteen pre-packaged functions including Graphic and Text Rollovers, Layer
movements, Redirection based on browser type or time, and controls for
QuickTime, Director and Flash content. SoftPress will add new Actions to a
library which will be made freely available from their Web site.

PRECISE, FLEXIBLE PAGE LAYOUT WITH CSS2 LAYERS Freeway has a rich range of
layout tools comparable with the best of DTP page layout programs. In its
first release, Freeway automatically created HTML tables to accurately
reproduce page designs on the Web. In version 2.0, designers now have the
additional option of using CSS2 layers, which are supported in the version
4 browsers from Microsoft and Netscape. This new feature gives graphic
designers greater freedom of layout design and the ability to add more
interactivity to Web pages.

CASCADING STYLE SHEETS
Freeway has been highly praised for its advanced typographical capabilities
and its ability to export elegantly formatted type as anti-aliased GIF
graphics. Now, version 2.0 complements this with much improved control of
HTML text through its extensive support for Cascading Style Sheets. This
new development helps to sustain Freeway's position as the leading Web
design tool for providing graphic designers with free-form layout and type
control.

INTRODUCTORY OFFER, PRICING AND UPGRADES Until December 31st Freeway 2.0 is
being offered at a special introductory price of $199. From January 1st
1999 the recommended retail price will be $299.

A 50% educational discount is available for qualifying customers; details
of this discount and other offers can be found on the SoftPress Web site.

All registered Freeway 1.0 customers qualify for a free-of-charge on-line
upgrade to the new version and have free access to download Freeway 2.0
from the SoftPress Web site. Registered customers can also purchase the
packaged version of Freeway 2.0 for a special upgrade price of $29 which
includes a bonus extra user license.
