7 AND OTHER SCIENCE DATA

Fortner Software provides low cost plug-in for seamless imports of science
and remote sensing data into Adobe Photoshop

Sterling, VA - October 13, 1999 -- Fortner Software announced today the
availability of the Version 2 of the HDF Import Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop
for online purchase and download. "Terabytes of data are available on-line
in the HDF format. The recent release of Landsat 7 data by USGS adds to
this mountain of potential information. Fortner Software's goal is to make
this data accessible to anyone," said Ted Meyer, Chief Technology Officer.
"The HDF Photoshop Plug-in provides an affordable way for any user to
access data and use Photoshop's filters and color manipulation to analyze
data from a variety of science disciplines."

The Hierarchical Data Format (HDF) is a scientific data format widely used
by NASA and research labs worldwide. HDF was developed by the National
Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) to store data, images,
annotations and tables in binary, cross-platform, self-describing files.
HDF makes it easier than ever before for scientists and engineers to share
data across networks, platforms, and disciplines.

With the HDF Import Plug-in, Adobe Photoshop owners can access raster
images and data objects stored in HDF files. Adobe Photoshop's advanced
annotations, color manipulation, additional imaging, and web publication
features compliment the image and data manipulation functionality of
Fortner Software's other low cost data access and visualization
applications: Noesys, Transform, T3D and Plot. For example, Noesys and
Transform can import many data formats including: text, binary, SDTS, DTED,
GeoTIFF, and FITS, and convert them to HDF, providing Adobe Photoshop users
access to data from sources previously inaccessible.

Professor W. I. Newman, Departments of Earth and Space Sciences, Physics
and Astronomy, and Mathematics, University of California says, "I
personally have found the HDF Photoshop Import Plug-in to be especially
useful, both in Adobe Photoshop 5.0 and ImageReady, for adapting HDF files
produced from computer output for professional publication use and for web
visualization applications."

The new plug-in version 2.0 now allows you to select and visualize 8-bit or
24-bit raster images, 2D data, any slice of a multidimensional data set,
and apply any palette stored in the HDF file to the data. This new version
is also compatible with Landsat 7 HDF data recently released by NASA, USGS
and the Earth Resources
Observation Systems (EROS) Data Center (EDC) Distributed Active Archive
Center (EDC DAAC).

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS, PRICING AND AVAILABILITY The HDF Import Plug-in v2.0
runs on Windows 98/NT and Power Macintosh (Mac OS 8+) and requires 10 MB of
hard disk space. It is compatible with Adobe Photoshop versions 5.x.

Through November 30, 1999 the plug-in is available for $149 and can be
purchased and downloaded on-line. Owners of the Macintosh version 1.x can
