FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MIRAMAR NOW SHIPPING PC MIGRATOR
New PC MACLAN Plug-in Moves Mac files to a Windows PC

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1, 1998 - (SEYBOLD BOOTH #2326 ) - Miramar Systems,
Inc., the leading provider of PC-to-Macintosh networking software,
announced today it's shipping its new file transfer utility PC Migrator.
This PC MACLAN "plug-in" allows PC users to migrate single or multiple
volumes of Mac files to a local PC drive or server, while adding the
appropriate PC file extensions during transfer.

PC Migrator is designed to rapidly and transparently ease migrations from
the Mac OS to a Windows 95, 98 or NT platform. It works by using the Mac
Type and Creator information to determine and attach the appropriate
DOS/Windows file extension and remove illegal Windows characters (such as *
or \) from file names. It moves the selected Mac files or folders across a
network maintaining the folder and sub-folder structures.

In Miramar Quality Assurance tests, PC Migrator has tested as the fastest
file moving utility available for Mac-to-PC file transfers, moving files at
network speeds of up to 400 KB per second. "The speed and functionality
makes PC Migrator a time- and money-saving tool for enterprise IT and
graphics professionals doing mass file migrations," stated Mike Sheffey,
Miramar Director of Sales.

Miramar created PC Migrator to address its customers' demand for a robust
migration utility solution. "PC Migrator and PC MACLAN allow VARs and
corporate enterprise to capitalize on and effectively service the growing
trend toward Mac migration and PC integration in the cross-platform
networking arena," explained Sheffey.

Among its features, the utility can "learn" user preferences throughout the
migration process. While scanning and preparing volumes for transfer, it
prompts the user to add extensions when it comes across a file it doesn't
recognize. PC Migrator also remembers when the Mac's Type and Creator has
been identified for a PC extension eliminating the need to identify them a
second time.

PC Migrator's filtering capabilities help sort and distribute files as it
moves them to the PC. For example, a folder containing QuarkXPress,
PageMaker and PhotoShop files can be delineated to migrate XPress files
only to the PC, or to place PageMaker and PhotoShop files in separate
folders.

PC Migrator has the ability to skip empty files, detect duplicate files,
and log all file transfers, file extensions and filters for future
reference. The preferences for one migration can also be appended as
preferences for other migrations.

System Requirements

PC Migrator requires a 486 CPU or higher, Windows 95, 98 or an NT operating
system, 16 MB of RAM, 2.5 MB of free disk space, and PC MACLAN for Windows
95/98 or NT pre-installed.

Price and Availability

PC Migrator lists for $89 U.S. It's available domestically from Ingram
Micro and EMJ, most PC-based mail order catalogs or direct from Miramar.
